Wasted time, wasted petrol etc.
2) Back in the 80s again I rang a HiFi shop on the Friday to confirm they had a certain cassette recorder so made the pilgrimage to London. Not having Google Maps back then it ended up being two tube rides and a bus ride to the shop in a really rough part of London where they could smell I wasn't local. I find the shop and told they hadn't got any in stock. I argued about how he'd got me down there all the way from Stoke under false pretenses and he pulled a baseball bat out.
3) I rang PCWorld in Manchester when it first opened and an assistant confirmed they had a certain graphics card in stock that me and my mate wanted so we made the 40 mile trip to be told they hadn't got one.
