It is a horrible thing to have done to you. It is even worse to know that a video is out there of you having it done. 9 months may be a little long but not excessively so considering it is a sexual offence.

If a 'lad' does that to a 'lad' in a 'uni lad' way it's classed an banter.

Neither the less, he's still a bell end.

There is a little clue in your post that may indicate a slight difference in the two situations.

I can't believe that people needed you to make that clear...

9 months tho? Seems a lot to me, considering crimes that are far worse don't get proportionally longer sentences.

If he plead guilty, he'll only serve half of that before being released on licence.

Banter is a ****ing horrible word and people who use it are hateful. People who use it to defend stupid actions are even more hateful. Like those retards "pranking" people on Youtube when they're just being ***** and end up nearly getting their asses kicked while screaming "it's a prank, it's a prank". It's not a prank. It's not banter. It's being a ****.

Still something that is in jest to my misses, might be considered jest to friends. In fairness she might have been drunk so might he, and nothing came of it.

If it were your misses and in a sexual relationship then there is the defence that you reasonably thought she would have consented. That's not the case about someone at uni whom you don't have that intimate relationship.

I'm amazed I need to make this point.

Should have just shot her in the toilet- would have been out in about the same time!

Also, what workmate actually went to the length to grass him up! Jeez!

What's ironic is that he'll get plenty of dick in the face in jail now... how the tables turn.

sounds a bit similar to 'teabagging'

while it was a stupid stupid move to do that to someone who clearly wasn't going to laugh it off and while I think it does deserve punishment I do think 9 months is a bit excessive

I'm in two minds.

On one hand the feelings of the victim can't be denied (neither can the law), on the other sexual assault (which includes other more extreme forms of abuse, such as groping women in public) seems excessive in this case. I've seen a friend put his rear end on the face of another & took a photo, I don't really class it at the same level as groping a women (but I do classify the story in the OP as more serious than this one also).

One thing which should be considered is the risk he poses to others & if jail time is required. I feel in this case it's following the letter of the law while not fully appreciating the spirit of the law (but I can't say I'm familiar with the particulars on this case so may be wrong).

What makes groping someone in public "more extreme" than rubbing genitals in their face while unconscious? I don't see the logic there. Surely the willingness to assault an unconscious person is pretty extreme?

Doing it is bad enough, but filming it & then showing that film to all n sundry?, that increases the humiliation factor for the victim tenfold hence the jail time I think.

Yes, because one is a direct intentional violation for sexual gratification & the other is a stupid prank with no direct sexual motivation.

One indicates a potential sexual predator who may escalate.

The other a massive idiot.
