Prometheus 2 - what we know so far

That's exactly what I was thinking.
Prometheus was terrible and they used the Alien prequel tagline, for marketing purposes.
There was no relationship between Prometheus and the Alien movies.
Prometheus has to be viewed as a standalone franchise and the first movie was a borefest. It promised much. But in the end, nothing of any significance actually happened.

Just hurry up and film it, despite some poor stuff in the first one, it has a lot of potential fir the story line.
And it wasn't as bad as most people thought. I think people where expecting a proper prequel. Before he changed it to a more or less stand alone trilogy set in a slightly different universe.

It was.

All you get is some galactic mumbo jumbo followed by two hours of characters acting entirely at random, with no motive or thought of consequence, at which point Scott obviously said "I have no ****ing idea whats going on anymore, lets blow everything up and have a giant space octopus".

Battleship had a better plot and script.

I agree:) I must admit I expected to find a post following mine raging about all that was wrong with part one:o:D

That's what usually happens so nice to be surprised that there's fellow forumites excited to see what happens next:cool:

ok I was off by one post:o:p

I know many felt let down that it wasn't a straight prequel, but I think sometimes it's good to be taken in new directions. I feel Fox will have a say in the eventual linking of the franchises. It seems part three will be the movie you were hoping for going by rumours but I guess we'll have to wait and see:cool::)

It was not the fact it wasn't an exact prequel that disappointed people.
It was the fact it was a terrible abortion of a film.
It had an awful script.
The script was awful.
The characters were unbelievable.
The script was terrible.
I also fear the 'roadmap' is awful also, but this remains to be proven.

It doesn't take a second film to explain the first.
There has never been a case of this happening well, ever.
A second film might explain some missing points or add extra gravitas to little or small nuances of a first film, but it can't explain away gaping holes in the terrible script.

Who is writing the script for part 2? If it is Daemon again, then I will consider a facebook petition for a dirty protest on any piece of food he is ever served...

Everyone's entitled to their opinion:)

I personally could see beyond the annoyances to what could follow. I don't think the sequel is about explaining the first it's about continuing the story. It wasn't intended to be an isolated movie but the beginning of something more:)

According to this source Michael Green is the new writer:)

Apparently the sequel is being written by Michael Green (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0338169/?ref_=tt_ov_wr), as Lindelof is writing a show for HBO (which actually looks pretty interesting)

Noomi Rapace (briefly:p) talks about Prometheus PtII:cool:

It's been said that the Xenomorph wont be making an appearance,

http://www.scified.com/site/prometh...heus-2-and-hints-at-the-films-new-antagonists

but an Alien version of a 'God' or 'Devil' like being just might though:cool:

I wonder how inspired by the late Giger's work the designers will be in the creation of an 'Angelic' Alien?

Either way it looks like a 2016/2017 release schedule and with an apparent 15 versions of the script anything could be possible:cool:

Would it even be possible to create something more sinister or 'Devilish' than the Xenomorph we know so well:eek::cool:
Also...

Sigorney Weaver has hinted at another Alien movie!

Rumours suggest it could follow Aliens, making Alien3 and Alien4 nightmarish dreams suffered during hyper-sleep. I think this could be amazing and also please those who felt the Xenomorph was missing from Prometheus

It is kind of what they seem to be doing with 'Terminator: Geniysis' so I guess if that does well may be Fox will be tempted!

My prediction is that it will suck worse than the first one, if stuff like this actually makes it into the film.

Honestly, an alien "God" or "Devil"? Why don't they just take a big dump on the Aliens franchise while they're at it.

I honestly think the Prometheus film was a massive mistake. There clearly wasn't a lot of previously existing back-story behind the "space jokey" character, and in making a film to explain him, they just mashed a hole load of ideas together into a crappy sci-fi mush.

And now it seems like they're set to do it again. Hurrah.

Alien 4 was a nightmarish dream suffered while I was wide awake.

:D

She has a really odd accent, almost sounds south African even though she's Swedish.

It certainly sounds unique and I think it added to her character:cool:
I've recently re-watched Prometheus and Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender really were great. So I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens to them next:)

I always hesitate posting in this thread because rage usually follows:eek::p

I enjoyed Prometheus and it hasn't stopped me enjoying the rest of the franchise but to lighten the mood I found this on imgur, it certainly made me chuckle :D

+1

These days they don't do good suspense/horror films so just leave the franchise well alone. Each additional instalment kills it a but further.

I realise that the Prometheus was marketed as a prequel to Alien. But from what I saw it had nothing to do with it.

Had I watched the movie on the telly, with no marketing and had not seen the after credit scene, I'd never have guessed that this movie is in any way related to Alien.

From what I saw Ridley Scott made another sci fi movie and used the "Alien" name, purely for marketing purposes. Nothing else. It seems that many people fell for it hook, line and sinker, expecting an "Alien" movie, and were disappointed as there was no Alien in it, except for some bald humanoid, who was a pussy.

I wasnt impressed with Prometheus and I am not impressed with any marketing for Prometheus 2...especially if it involves debates over the existence of God/Devil.

Not even when you saw the ship and things like the Jockey's 'helmet' and navigation console?

Ridley Scott is on record as saying it's not a prequel to Alien but it's in the same universe as Alien. The planet is not LV-426 (Acheron), the ship is not the same ship as the derelict in Alien, just same design. The deacon creature at the end will not "become" the Alien we know in the other movies.

The new movie is moving away from that anyway with no Giger inspired aliens at all.

Prometheus was simultaneously a huge joy and letdown for me, I got more expansion into the Alien universe but with a bunch of idiots who shouldn't be let on a spaceship.

Go find the original Prometheus thread, no one was more hyped about this movie on these forums than me :(
