Match your damage to their shields by using the appropriate weapon solar, arc and void.
So yellow is solar, blue is arc, etc
You are damaging stuff, you're just not using the right element against the enemies shields. Should be using fire against the wizards shields and arc against the knights shields. When the shields are down are down on wizards you should probably switch to using arc to bring them down faster. Basically you should be using arc weapons unless you are shooting the wizards shields
Anyone else noticing a delay in getting invite notifications in Destiny? Seems to take 8 minutes between me receiving the invite and Destiny telling me about it

Yup. According to PSN I'm getting mine at least 10 minutes late, although I'm not sure how accurate that is.

That's the first time I've attempted it so had no idea what it consisted. Futile doesn't even begin to describe! Lol. What's your PSN? I'd like to give it a go again when I have a better primary weapon.

Yes. I received an invite from MikebUK (sorry I didn't see this in time mate) which I didn't see until I was about to log off. Aparantly the time elapsed was well over 15 minutes in my case. No idea what is going on there as some invites are ok.
Finally got my Warlock up to level 28 after doing the weekly heroic solo. Those damn Wizards in the wave room are a pain in the rear without the Arc damage modifier from the Nightfall. I must admit to cheesing Phogoth by staying in the room at the beginning and avoiding the Shrieker (which is very easy). If I had a better Auto Rifle (basically one that isn't just rare) I might try to run around a bit. As it stands my legendary Scout rifle is epic against single enemies, but not so great when you have 2-3 yellow bar Hallowed Knights all trying to give me a cuddle (they must like my characters pigtails!).
I got a nice Warlock legendary helment engram which I broke down for the Shards (already have the Exotic once from Xur). Couple that with 3 shards from the daily public event and I had enough to upgrade my gauntlets
. Now I just need 32 more to fully upgrade the rest of my armour and take me to level 29.... 
When will we know what Xur has on offer this weekend?
Fusion Rifle with Void damage, take their shield off then primary the heck out of them. Running backwards (in a loop) if required.
Also, having a 300dmg primary really helps in raid, even when you're of lower level, otherwise, it's like flicking water at them.
