Britain asked to cough up £1.9 billion to the EU

We aren't being punished for anything. Its just like income tax. You earn more you pay more.
Our economy has grown so we owe more tax. There is no punishment and there's nothing to do with other countries.

No... it based on a black economy, which by definition is a guess of how much of a black economy we have. Utter drivel from europe yet again.

People my age and under ( 40ish ) have never had a say on wether we wish to stick with europe and its begining to annoy a lot of people.

Europe is a Joke well and truly the only good thing about it is the single market all the rest is complete nonsense that's causing more problems than the single market is worth!

There's no provision for it in the agreement
There's no provision for it in law
We don't get to write our own law anymore
The EU would be wholly against it

Or, alternatively, because we aren't willing to seriously consider declaring war.

None of that matters. The UK is a sovereign state so can do what it likes. I thought the Lisbon treaty did have a provision for exit.

I find it funny and horrific that proponents of the anti-EU cannot comprehend the impact of the withdrawal of trade and free movement.

Trading with the EU won't change as a result of a UK exit as we'll almost certainly get a free-trade agreement. I think the impact of no more free movement will be a positive thing for the UK.

People do not just come here, clog up the NHS and take our jobs derp. You can also go anywhere in the EU, open borders. Business opportunities, friends, family, proximity.

I don't want open borders. I don't care if I need to get visas or the like to travel abroad.

Something we signed up for years ago on how we fund EU.

Didums no say. How many other millions of aspects have you not had a say in? That's how countries work. We don't scrap everything every 4years and start from a blank sheet. The country is based on thousands of years if progress. To think you should have a say on everything is frankly silly and unworkable.

Speak for yourself. There are millions of British citizens living in mainland Europe that the UK leaving the EU would be a complete pain in the ass and negative thing, myself included.

Not to mention it's great having free trade/shipping between countries. I am constantly ordering goods from UK companies and getting them shipped to me

Can I ask, do you have a personal reason like your job or something, why you are such a proponent of the EU?

I believe it's an option to attempt to negotiate a withdrawal, from a position of minimal bargaining power. Perhaps I should read some of the primary source though.

I don't think sovereign state implies do what it likes. Could you clarify what you mean by this?

Thats two do not negatives. Do you have anything positive or constructive to add, or is the full substance of your rhetoric hate mongering.

Do not want, do not care, the words of insulant children having a tantrum. Let's look at the scientific data, let's have a plan that actually moves forward and stop with these constant comments of bull **** that get nowhere.

You sound just like a euro politician. Arrogant and utterly convinced that only the view you hold is acceptable.

I disagree totally so lets leave it that ;)

That ability to order products from the UK would not change. This is not the 1970's any more.

Nice how you ignored my point about the millions of British living in mainland Europe.

And I'm aware it's not the 1970s any more (thank God). However paying 20-30%+ import tax on something you order totally sucks

I appreciate your point, but the sheer amount of British people living out of the UK compared to the amount that are entering is unsustainable.

I don't necessarily want to leave the EU. I just want a better deal for us and I don't see us getting it anytime soon. We already pay £20bn plus to the EU, to ask for more is preposterous.

Can also ask an above poster, what does leaving the EU have to do with declaring war?

It was about what exactly the eu could DO if we leave... smack all our bottoms? invade in the name of the glorious EU republic? Throw a tantrum?

If we vote in a government and decide to leave the eu what can they actually DO about it? in a practical sense.

There's so much stupidity in this thread.

If one of you received an unexpected bonus at work, would you expect to not get taxed for it, assuming you've already agreed on paying that tax? Mathematics is a bombshell now?

You make it out like it's only based on the black economy which isn't true, it looks at the whole economy but now takes greater account of things like income from the black economy.

Still, it seems unecessary/farcical for the EU to suddenly review economic performance since 1995, ask for extra payment then leak it just before an EU leaders meeting.

There was no VAT before the EU. We used the old visa style if you wanted to live\work in Europe.

They did it that way because you could see what kind of person is coming in to your country. But not now :(

I believe he is in the railway industry. You know that lot who hold out the begging bowl.(but I maybe wrong)
