Britain asked to cough up £1.9 billion to the EU

So explain where it goes then, you say it goes into agriculture and research that is still part of a countries economy, it's not a charity. Are you saying that Germany in no shape or form receive any EU membership fees/donations?

Every country including us receive funding. Germany and France are also nets contributors, so how can we be paying for them? When they pay ,ire to the EU than they get.

The joys of being in the EU. Endlessly bailing out countries who can't manage themselves.

Don't really want UKIP in but I do want to leave the EU.

1) It isn't sudden
2) It almost certainly isn't 'them' that have gone about it this way.

Cameron says he found out yesterday, the Treasury found out last week. They knew they would have to pay something but did not expect to be told they had a month to pay it or for the EU to 'leak' it. I'd class that as sudden. At least that's how i've been reading things through the various news articles, but i confess i don't actually know anything other than what was contained in them.

It's hard to calculate. But we contribute a net £6.17bn and it's estimated we get back 31-92bn from the single market agreement.

an interesting read.

Look at the origin of the document though. Stats can be manipulated to show anything in a good light. Personally, I think the EU needs us more than we need it. The Euro is a lame duck and is dragging countries down.

 opposed to your opinion, which is purely based on a handful' of sensational newspaper articles a year and zero facts, figures or stats.

Flip side of that is Greece has been a net taker from the EU...always has been and always will be. Thoughts on that?

The same way I think about everyone in this country; some are net contributors and some are net receivers....it's the way it should be and am happy with that :)

And being a fairly high earner with no dependent children that means I am totally a net contributor now, and am perfectly comfortable with the fact my contribution goes to pay for individuals/countries that are less well off. (Including all those scroungers on the dole! ;) )
