how much does it cost you to get to work?

Half hour walk each way for me, so nothing. Which is handy, as I make less in a month than half of the people here pay for transport :p

2 years ago in January Aberdeen First Bus put it's Yearly pass up £60 to £660. That week I bought a crap bike from Halfords for £200 and have cycled every day to work. Cost in the light's, oil, weather protection stuff and it cost me not a lot.

So free travel these day's. 15-20 min's to work 20-25 min's back to home.

I'm just about to move further out of the city so a it more than it used to be but still only about 2% of my pay. It does take an hour each way but when you're waking up and getting home to this it makes it all worth while.

0. Zero. Nowt. Nudda.

I walk now after spending years getting the train into London i got fed up with the travel and the cost that I got a very similar job near home.

Cycle to work scheme bike payment, costs me £40 a month for a year on that and use the bike everyday,6 days a week.....so £40 a month :) (for 1 year then zero£)

This would all go against your P11D, but I'm certain certain private mileage can cause you some issues.

I pay normal company car tax, based on the P11D.
I also pay car fuel benefit which is a set monthly amount based on the vehicle's CO2 figure.

It doesn't matter if I do 1 private mile a month or 10000 private miles a month, my payment remains the same. Same goes for business miles.

I have access to unlimited fuel from our own supplies via a fuel key and I can use as much as I like for business or private use.

Aren't you quite severely visually impaired? You can't get a FREE Bus Pass? You should look into (Yeah..I know..bad pun..:o) getting a Bus/Rail Pass could save you some cash hopefully! :)

Yes I am visually impaired! I do have the disabled person's rail card (same as young person's @ 33% off ticket price), so I will make some enquiries about a bus pass. Thanks :-)

Yep I have this, iirc I could have the bus pass or railcard I chose bus pass but rules may have changed enabling you to have both.

Mine is £48 a week but I get most of this back.

This thread has reminded me just how crazy public transport costs are in the UK.
A 7 day transport card for London is £58.
The equivalent card (better actually) for Budapest is about £12.

This doesn't really mean anything, without a comparison of wages and taxes.

My train ticket and travel card comes to £629 a month, but that's the price to pay to live in blissful countryside and still get to the London office in under an hour and a half door to door.
An hour & half to get to work...

I have to be at work before 7am that would mean I have to get up at about 4.30am..
and I finish at 6pm so that would be 7.30pm to get home

Blow that....
