Dilemma: Note 4, Z3 or ?

I'm at that time of the year when I need to decide on my next mobile. Normally I'm not too bad, but this time I'm stumped.

A little background - I usually get 30% Vodafone with Friends & Family. That friend has gone off the radar (oh wherefore art thou!) and so I'm moving to EE (where my sister-in-law can get me 40% off). I can only get the 40% off on 24 month contracts, so while that sucks it does mean my next dilemma is many moons away :D

My recent mobiles have been S2 -> S3 -> Note 2 -> Note 3 (I also have a Samsung tablet, TV and fridge-freezer! :D)

Note 4: I like the physical home button on the Notes, the screen size is fine for me, amazing screen quality, powerful specs and I occasionally do actually use the S-Pen for taking notes and scribbling comments, slightly more expensive.

Z3: has a more premium feel to it, great low light camera, more durable (water/dust proof - I could have done with this on my honeymoon!), amazing battery life, nice screen, cheaper, nice colour options (tempted by copper!), plus could I do with a move away from Samsung for once?

Has anyone got any advice to move me in one direction or the other?

Z3 IMO.

I've posted some thoughts in the Z3 thread:

I have only had the Xperia Z3 a day but I am ready to post some initial impressions

The display is beautiful. The colours are vibrant but not over-saturated, they appear to be reasonably accurate. the viewing angles are excellent. The 1080p resolution means the display is incredibly crisp - I do not miss Quad HD whatsoever.

I am really enjoying the quality of the audio, which seems to be slightly better than the Z2. The speakers may be a little bit quieter than the Z2 but the quality is improved: the bass is richer for example. The fact that the speakers are stereo is a massive advantage of this phone and is something that in my view, is a major selling points for phones nowadays.

The build is excellent. The sides are now rounded off, which means the phone is far more comfortable in the hand. The aluminium construction feels very high-quality and it has that "cold" feel in the morning which I like The back of the Z3 is a slab of glass (as is the front), which has the disadvantage of being very finger-print prone but it does feel quite nice under the fingers.

The button placement in my opinion, is really good. The power button is naturally where my thumb rests and the actual button itself is massively improved over the Z2: it feels much more "clicky" and tactile. The volume rocker is below that - unlike on the Z2, it isn't curved, it's completely flat. In my opinion, this isn't much of a loss, the volume rocker still feels very tactile and the volume up and down buttons are easy to press. Differentiating the buttons (e.g. when you're in a dark room) is very easy as they feel so different. Have a dedicated camera button is excellent. It allows quick access to the camera and allows focus by half-pressing it and then pushing it down the whole way takes a photo.

Those are my initial impressions. I'll keep this thread updated with anything interesting I find and my full review will be coming soon! :D

Any questions, let me know :)

Assuming the iPhone 6 Plus is off the table, I'd go for a Nexus 6 or Note 4. There's no sign of a Nexus 6 release date though, so you might be waiting, if it even comes to EE.

The Z3 is a very good phone but I think I'd put the Note ahead of it, just.

We have both in our household (Note 4 for me, Z3 for wife) and I'd definitely recommend the Z3. It has better battery life and a much smoother and prettier implementation of Android. The multitasking button has a bit of a delay on the Note 4 and it's really starting to grate on me.

I must say though, the Note 4 feels more premium to me than the Z3. The Z3 has a hollow feeling whereas the Note 4 feels really dense and tightly packed. The chamfered metal edging looks gorgeous and I find myself just admiring it from different angles all the time.

Was in the same position.
Went with Note 4 and don't regret it at all. Sales girl (would) had a Z3 and thinks she should have waited for the Note 4.

It is a close call though.

Seems fairly evenly split at the moment.
In relation to iPhones, I'm not a fan of Apple or their approach and so have not considered them.

I guess I'll go in and look them over again. See whether fiddling with them makes my mind up (). In the meanwhile, any other comments/thoughts are appreciated.

And finally:
Made me LOL :D
