*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

My issue regards the updates is the lack of forethought on Bungies behalf - they shouldn't need to do such significant changes, it should be minor tweaking...

Pocket Infinity is a good example - the 8 clip was always gonna break PvP so why introduce it with such a perk in the first place. It just holding 3 'shots' wasn't really the answer to keeping it balanced...

Three story missions, one strike and one raid, for £18. At first I thought that was somewhat underwhelming, but then I think of how much it costs to play WoW and suddenly it doesn't seem so bad. I do wonder how many person days of effort go into making a single story mission.

Way I see it, no reason to decide until its released.

While I do at least enjoy playing it, I'm undecided on whether I will still be bothered in another month. £17.50 for that level of content seems like a joke if you compare it to the level of content you got from say, Borderlands DLC.

Per the EG article I see the new strike will feature a Wizard as a final boss...... [sarcasm]YAY![/sarcasm]

That will be interesting in a Nightfall event with Arc burn!

EDIT: I have this and the next expansion as part of my LE bundle so I will be playing it anyway.

Q: Is there anything in particular you can point to in that regard? For example, what was the most common piece of feedback you received?

Harold Ryan: It's so broad. When I read a lot of the feedback, and I see it's after playing for 100 hours, it's hard not to couch that in, well if you played the game for 100 hours... What other game do you play for 100 hours, right? As we play the game and test the game, there are all kinds of things we want to improve and evolve, and we are improving them and evolving them over time.

We had our challenges getting the game out on four consoles. Three of those consoles, most of us had never shipped on before. I'd only led the team to ship games on Xbox and PC. All the PlayStation stuff was an interesting learning experience.

But overall, the fan reaction, the reviewer reaction based on how they're playing, is pretty inspiring. We just committed to address the feedback. Because we're getting the feedback from people who are playing so much, including the reviewers, there's a lot of it over time, as you read the updates along the way, that's pretty actionable and becomes common across a lot of people and their feedback.

TLDR version, if you've played the game for 100 hours, we've already got your money and don't give a ****. We only care about criticisms from reviewers who might stop people from buying the game.

Is how that answer reads to me.

There's no doubt in my mind that not all of the weapons got the same play testing.

That weapon was definitely designed with PVE in mind, with no thought given to how players would use that in the crucible.

The whole reason behind the gun, its name etc.. was around this constant stream of fusion blasts. Hence "infinity".

The fusion blast doesn't feel very infinite when its only 3 shots. To properly balance crucible, they need to remove exotics & legendaries altogether, and limit it to blue weapons only, or have separate weapon stats.

The only piece of actual content in the game currently is the raid, the rest of it is go here, deploy 343 guilty spark and kill things while waiting around. Half the time I don't even understand why I'm going somewhere because the game does such a poor job of explaining things.

The grimoire system on Bungie.net is also a really poor way of adding story to the game, Final Fantasy XIII had the same problem with regards to not explaining anything and had an encyclopedia with the added back story, but at least the added story text was actually in the game in that case.

I mean without looking at the grimoires do/did any of you actually know what the vault of glass is and why you're going into it? (for the loot obviously :p)

The game cost me £50 (Got it on Xbox 360 so I can play on Xbox One when I upgraded a few weeks back).

I've since spend 145 hours on it (still below average of 3 hours a day as stated on Bungie's last report). For a nearly 2 month old game, I am satisfied, as if I see it, till December, it'd have been 3 months.

£50/3 = £16.66

Expansion pack of around £17.50 each, and then another around 3 months time.

Basically it works out to be around £6 a month from now till 3 months post expansion 2.

It's an MMO, with fairly continual support. Despite the flaws, it's still a work in progress like any MMO. Let's see how expansion 1 flares, but I'll get it anyway, as I do enjoy it - despite the 'repetition'.

Speaking of Grimoires, anyone know why are there card placeholders for Mercury and Saturn? Are they coming in future content or were they meant to be in the game that shipped and removed for some reason. I know there's a multiplayer map on Mercury.

Is how that answer reads to me.

You're just trying to find the negatives. I'm expecting that a lot of the comments from these people who have a playtime of over a hundred hours is there isn't enough content. Which is clearly not true if they've played that much.

I've enjoyed my time in Destiny but I don't think i'll be buying the expansions on release.

For me there is too little unique content to warrant the cost. I bought this game expecting to take part in a exciting story in a beautifully crafted universe. In its current state its pretty much old halo code with different artwork.

If your looking at a time played/cost, I've probably got what you would expect to pay but the game is not what I had hoped.

This game has it's flaws and it 'feels' like a good portion of the game has been 'cut out' for future DLC, so I don't really want to buy the expansions..

On the other hand, I paid £35 for the main game and have sunk so much time in to it that an extra £35 for two expansions seems like decent value.

I'm enjoying it but then again I dont spend my life on it (although that isnt out of choice haha) but having played plenty of MMO, MMORPGS and FPS i think Destiny offers a lot in both PvE and PvP for a 2 month old game I couldnt sink days into it like World of Warcraft could but any game of this type is about the grind , repeatitive quests, loot, racing to the end game and then thinking erm what do I do now. Bit's I have really enjoyed about this game is the social aspect and the laughs you can have whilst doing stuff as a fireteam...

although the worst thing about this game for me is trying to establish the social aspect and fireteam due to lack of options and PSN

Thats the thing the best bits about this game werent really designed by Bungie apart from the raid - I play it because I know a load of people I know play it and its a great way to catch up and play together

To me the decision about the next expansions is more about who else will play it (as Destiny is a dull game solo) than any real weighted consideration on the content it brings - its a terrible way to weigh up such a purchase tbh though :p
