*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

Well I don't think the game was really designed to share 20 weapons between 3 characters :p

I haven't even managed to fill the 9 slots yet (special is close with 8 currently). Can't imagine what combo of weapons you'd need. I have a fusion rifles of each type, sniper of each type, machine gun of each type, rocket launcher of each type, multiple primary weapon options and I still have plenty of slots left over :/
Probably the most effective way of levelling weapons is to share them amongst characters - especially if you think of the materials you are saving avoiding duplicate upgrades etc...
Based on what? I can't store one of every legendary in the Diablo stash is that flawed? I can't store every weapon in Borderlands in the bank is that flawed?
Not sure what you are on about tbh - once you consider how useful elemental damage is 20 becomes a limiting number fast.

I've got easily 20+ weapons I like to use in particular areas/missions - half of which are fully upgraded. To me it seems 6 specials (3 fusions and 3 snipers - perhaps a shotgun) and 6 heavies are the minimum to be fomfortable with and then all the raid legendary elemental primaries 20 could be reached without trouble. I've not even mentioned exotic primaries neither...

Assuming you have 3 character (even 2) you have more than enough space to have 1 of each legendary and above weapon. Even accounting for those that can have different elements attached to them, it's still enough to get by. I don't think we need more space, you just have to juggle to get around the cap.

It would be a nice thing to have everything in one central location, but it's certainly not "broken" in its current form IMO.

Considering how long it takes to change character if you left something on an alt or already hit the 20 cap in the weapons locker I'd say its pretty much broke. It makes a simple task pretty annoying...

I try to avoid leaving stuff on my characters because of it - that's when a cap of 20 just isn't sensible especially considering what the expansions will bring

The video on the agility speed increases misses some things I think, like movement while aiming down the sights, movement without sprinting, and in the air. When I use the +2 agility on the suros regime, I move noticeably faster while aiming with it, bit more nimble, unless it's just me.

I suppose the main question is how hard is it for Bungie to increase the vault size considering how trivial it appears to be on the face of it?

Even if it isn't fundamentally broken increasing the vault size to say 50 would be nice to see even if just for the convinience factor.

One thing that would be cool is if we could select how much of a given item we would like to put in the vault. Sometimes I want to keep x of Helium / Spinmetal etc on my character and leave the balance in the vault for my other character.

These arn't really game breaking (I haven't hit the vault limit to be fair) but nice little tweaks that would be beneficial to everyone.

So let's assume 6 heavy and 6 special (shotguns are crap, leaves room for one of each damage type) and then the 4 primary weapons with element (I believe there are 4 and assuming you're lucky enough to have them all) That still leaves you four spare slots if you want to share every single weapon! It's one of the most generous stash/storage solutions I've ever seen in a loot drop game!

I have a level 300 of these on my hunter.

It fires nice and fast, with the hunters gunslingers trance and chain of woe its a non stop stream of scout rifle bullets.

Problem is that the impact is quite low. Impact on this is 38, while say, the A.1F19X-Ry with explosive rounds from the vanguard is 61.

Its really the Doctor Nope of scout rfiles. All rate of fire and no impact.

was thinking of buying this. it looks to be the best vendor available scout rifle

I've got more than 4 elemental primaries and what about my exotics like Suros or Universal Remote? Can't you see past your nose that a limit of 20 is going to limiting to people that might not be efficient as you or I with the guns they own or dont care to weapon swap via changing characters?

Some wierdos even keep a legendary of their special/heavy exotics so they know if they have already lcoked out their exotic they can throw the legendary on instead...

There's rumours that's there might be a new element in the future expansions too...

EDIT: Tell a lie I've only got 4 elemental primaries...

It's pretty good fully upgraded*. One of the upgrades maxes out the range making it more like a Sniper with the right scope. It fires quite sowly and only has a 16 round clip which are the only real drawbacks.

Critical kills also makes reloading extremely quick.

*"Out of the box" a fully upgraded rare scout rifle is arguably better if you arn't used to using them.

I'm just saying that these people claiming to need to regularly switch 20 weapons between characters might not actually need to do that. Do these people have these problems with all the other loot games? Borderlands for example is far more lenient with storage space both on characters and loot share (I think the shared stash only had 4 slots from memory and required getting a significant way through the story!) Yet never saw many complaints about that

On the question of VG weapons I need a AR or PR - what would you go for:

Shadow Price
Dr Nope
(I can't remember the names of the Pulse rifles...)

avoid Dr Nope as the rate of fire with recoil is just insane i unlocked it and used it for a day or 2 then went to something else as its just a spray and pray weapon :p

Just a quick thanks to Hutchy and zoomee for the inv to Nightfall and Weekly strike :D one thing Destiny has done is introduce me to some great people amongst the OcUK clan (i;ve actually been here since around the BF Vietnam days) but Destiny for it's flaws in getting firegroups in game it has forced peeps to sort stuff out with on forum or via friends list so as teidious as it is I'm grateful for it.

Also peeps outside of the group randomers who just grouped with as they've ran past or something adn ended up doing more with them since.

np's dude! - Was a good effort you man dragging my dying butt through the maps - one week away and I felt like a right destiny noob lol!

I do have to admit that gaming is about the social element to me - being able to talk to others and playing with real life players is what makes a game enjoyable having come from RTCW and ET days :) I'm not really a single-player game sort of person unless its something amazing like TLOU.

I've had consoles for years but never made many friends one any of them until Destiny came out - its a good community we have here and growing by the looks of it - my friends list is like 200+ since buying Destiny (before it was like 10 people lol!)

shadow price, wasnt a fan of doctor nope and have dismantled two

as for pulse rifle the super pox is good

I find pulse rifles pretty underwhelming at the moment. I think they're the class in biggest need of a buff.

Thanks chaps :)

I was thinking about the Shadow Price due to it being a better all round package.

I have a love / hate relationship with the pulse rifles. My secondary character is using a fully upgraded Strangers Rifle and honestly it isn't as bad I was expecting it to be. The upgrade perks have improved it no end. A different higher attack rare one though, URGH. I got rid of that nearly straight away.
