Skinny jeans and grandad trousers with orange F's

My idea of hell - having to do clothes shopping. I'd rather have fillings without anaesthetic than venture into shops to try on clothes.

This pretty much sums up my experience.

5,10, approx. 12.5st, 34" waist.

Should be easy clothes shopping for the above... Nope!

T shirts are the easiest, medium or large usually just depends on brand. The absolute worst thing is trousers and jeans. About 3/4 of the time I can barely get my legs in and they are labelled up as 'my size.'

For the person on page one whose 9st calling OP fat.... My wife is 5,6 and 9st and she is slim. You obviously don't have trouble fitting into these 'modern slim fit' clothes because you are tiny....

^ I'm the same

5ft 10, 12.5st, 32" waist

99% of jeans in the high street are like leggings. I try on the loose, bootcut fit and they are just as bad.

I've no idea where to get a decent pair of jeans from now, which don't cost £100+

I'm 41 next Friday :D

7th ?

Same birthday as me then

/high five...

I'm a year older though

My calculated BMI puts me at 63KG 5'6" (I'm at 67KG) and I haven't got a clue what a size 6 dress looks like.

I feel better at 64-65 so will lose a couple over the next couple of weeks.

Jeans are hard to predict some 30" will fit comfortably some won't even get over my thighs or I can't even pull up the zip (combo of fat arse and total lack of place in the jeans to fit my tackle unless I leave them outside the zip :D )

Anyway what's wrong with casual shirt tucked into jeans?

I don't think people are struggling the clothe themselves, people are struggling to find regular fitting clothes that are not in "fashionable" measurements. I must say that I know very little about clothes shopping as I do so out of necessity rather than anything else so I am limited as to what I know or look for. I think others are in a similar position. When something is alien it's no surprise that people struggle.

And as to untucked shirts.... No. Unless it's a casual slim fit shirt along with the sleeves rolled up. But otherwise it just looks scruffy like you're 15 and just finished school..

Yep. I only leave untucked if it's a short sleeve shirt, and the only short sleeve shirts I own are my trecking/rugged type North Face/Regatta/Jack Wolfskin shirts. With jeans it's long sleeve shirt, tucked in, decent belt, sleeves possibly rolled up. Like an adult, not a teenager :p

What is wrong with people? How are adult males unable to find clothes that fit them? These are basic life skills.

..

lol... this basically.

5ft 11, stocky build, 34-36 waist here.... never seem to have a problem.

GAP, Crew, Various outdoor places, House of Fraser should have you covered with endless brands....

Agree with the OP. Androgynous males types really being what clothes shops sell to these days...don't get me started on guys and skinny jeans.

No wonder we have so many fat haters on here, its because you have a load of nerd males built like prepubescent girls / Montgomery Burns, it all makes sense now.

There are also a load of well nourished, stacked, muscular guys. There are also a load of obese, overfed guys. So in conclusion, we have a load of guys, of differing proportions. Much like a representation of normal society then :p

Its the thighs that I have a problem with. If I get a waist that will fit me, then its too tight on the thighs, so I end up having to go for a little bigger and cranking the belt as tight as it will go.

How about you all get a grip on reality and accept that all men (and women) are different sizes and heights, and have different fashion styles. Just because you don't like skinny jeans and the 9 stone bloke next to you does, you are no more of a man than he.

Never have I seen so many supposedly grown men be such pathetic bitches about what we wear. Jesus.

I'm 6ft, 36" waist and 44-46" chest and don't struggle too much. I usually go for XXL now, and with slim fit shirts I just go up a size and they fit me better than a classic cut shirt. I don't buy high street crap though; if you spend the extra on good quality clothing it will last you a lot longer.

I quite liked the http://www.crewclothing.co.uk/ suggestion from the other day. But i completely agree with op sentiments, the trousers are way too tight.

I bought some vintage "Garment dye chino" last week, i got them size 38 on sale for £23.

I struggle to fit in to 36 usually but 38 is a bit too big. I could fit in to 36 but i find it uncomfortable. The legs are not baggy but also not slim fit tight. I am happy with them.

I saw a guy on the train wearing tight black jeans and it looked shocking.

The voice of reason.

I'm reading all the macho nonsense and singing YMCA in my head :D

Plus, manlets are folk that can't fight.
