Nvidia's new DSR and MSAA - My findings

I decided to try DSR for the first time and see performance hit. I run 2 benchmarks on my 970 sli and the results are quite strange. Driver 344.11.

Metro LL
1080 32/107/186
1080 DSR x 2 31/105/182

Tombraider
1080 114/199.9/122
1080 DSR x 2 118/120/122

Almost no performance decrease. Image somehow better but I can't see much difference. Or DSR is not working with these games?

Isn't the performance hit from GeDoSaTo worse and you can't use 120/144hz at some resolutions. Not quite sure how it's better, the reason those DSR screens were blurry was because it was probably left at the 33% smoothness setting.

The thing with DSR is the simplicity of it. You just pick the res and go and play. You of course need some grunt to play with the much much higher resolutions available but it sure does make the image look a lot sharper.

That's what I love about it too. No messing about just set it in control panel and choose the resolution in game

So after another testing I know how DSR looks like. Tombraider at DSR 2 looks much better. It is a pity DSR breaks TressFX for me.
Next I will try it in 3dvision. Hope the cards can handle it:-)

Dead Space:

1920x1080 + AA (unsure on which as it doesn't say!!)

5K no AA

I'll fiddle about with PNG files etc... later, see how much quality I can retain.

Wow, 2nd image in Dead space looks MUCH better! So much crisper and sharper...and look specifically at how much better those near horizontal window frames look in the DSR image...no shimmers! :)

depends on games you try some lok amazing with it on others dont.

BF4 is awesome with it on.

even as i normally play it all low mesh ultra loks ace. :D

Surely DSR compromises any on screen text/HUD info?

I think it varies from game to game depending on how HUD/UI elements are implemented.

I've definitely run into this issue on the only game I've tried DSR on (Vindictus) - it doesn't seem to scale the UI at resolutions above 1080p.
