*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

Quite annoyed they have announced that they are working on Destiny 2 already, given the state of the current game. Reeks of Left 4 Dead 2 all over :(

I'd have been far more surprised if they weren't working on it already. Hasn't their plan always been to release a full game yearly with DLC's in-between? If they follow the MMO type approach of having your character carry over then I'm fine with it.

Well yeah exactly, as long as your character carries over then it's fine. But if we have to put all these hours into it and all this effort every year then that's ridiculous

My thoughts exactly mate, £20 for both is a bit much tbh. I don't get how they're getting away with charging £35.

Too many people willing to pay it is how they're getting away with it. Don't get me wrong if I go by hours played versus cost Destiny has been mega cheap entertainment and I'm sure the expansions would be too, but I'm still not at all happy about the cost of keeping it up to date, not even sure I'm going to yet either.

Remember work has begun can mean many things. Even simple stuff like concept art can be done well in advance of production getting started properly. They don't need all their staff working on after launch support for Destiny either.

The state of the current game ?

There's nothing technically wrong with it, not like battlefield. Sure they have taken some wrong decisions, but its nothing that they can't easily fix. Most of peoples gripes would take a couple of days of work at most. They usually revolve around missing features and balance.

Its no real surprise that the main team has moved onto something else. What exactly do artists, modellers, animators etc.. do when a game comes out ? These people have nothing to do with the ongoing support of an existing game so they get put to work on starting the next game. Baring in mind activision's contract called for a new game every 2 years, they are bound to start working on the next game as soon as one is finished.

not just that, some of them (eg animators and modellers) simply have no work to do at all. Not unless one of your problems with destiny is that you want all the gun models re done. Games development studios have many teams of people working on the production of a new game, very few of them are any use for the ongoing support of a released game.

Been having a go on this after work today and it's not bad. Can see how it factors in addictive elements by how you get gear and the necessity for grinding. I picked a titan but not sure it was the wisest choice as it doesn't reallt suit my play style, which is more rifle/sniper related. Might try a hunter out instead and see if I enjoy it more.

I tried it but it only works on your own screen. People on your fireteam just see you riding it normally. Bit disappointing.

Not when you use that to make awesome surfing videos, "Xbox Record That" then share it :)

Edit:

Apparently you can how your friends, all you need to do is leave the zone and return. Everyone in this new loaded zone will see you then!
