Nexus 9

Not sure about getting this or the sony z3 compact tablet. both seem to have compelling plus points.
 
Sure I read a review somewhere that said battery drained nearly 30% when left for a day, mine has lost 4% in 15 hours, again seems better than the ipad mini retina I had.

Seems much better than the reviews have been saying imo.

Nope, the reason is different display resolution, Shield ha da lower reosolution display which means 3D benchmarks will produce better results.

The N9 should win in most CPU benchmarks, except maybe for multicore tests which to be honest are meaningless anyway.

Seen reports of 5.0 roll out being delayed until the 12th due to a Wifi battery drain bug. This might be the cause of poor battery life seen on the N9.

That would be why my battery life is non existent then, did 40mins browsing last night, started at 100% by time went to bed had dropped to 81%, which in my mind was quite a big drop.

Could be, the main bug tracking post seems to refer to the Nexus 5 but it could be an issue with 5.0 in general.

If "Miscellaneous" is taking up a big chuck in battery stats it might well be this issue.
 
I've read conflicting reports on battery life. Some are saying after the 800MB update which was release on Sunday apparently, battery life is a lot better.

I hope they quickly get these bugs squashed, I haven't entirely ruled out picking up one at the end of this month.
 
The bug has been marked as fixed earlier today so there might be another OTA heading out soon with this fix.
 
Noticed first annoying lag, exiting chrome and the desktop background took a second or so to appear, not great. Difficult to understand how these apparent software issues are not ironed out before release.

Ive noticed lag since first turning it on, most noticibly if I use the device after 2-3 hour period of not using it, seems to take time to open up apps.

I really want to, it is a lovely device.

Going to heavily use it over weekend etc then make my mind up, there are bits I like, but there are issues for me so far.

I would agree, I am very impressed with it, BUT if that lag was often it would bug the bejesus out of me, my feeling is that it is very likely that it will improve with updates but its a gamble as we only have 14 days to decide.
 
Anybody know if there's somewhere that stocks these yet? Would really like to see one in the flesh as all of the reviews have been so inconsistent.
