Brazilian Grand Prix 2014, São Paulo - Race 18/19

If I were Hamilton, I would qualify behind Rosberg on purpose, and just follow him home in second. he should be quick enough to have a healthy gap ahead of 3rd, and gives him the option to cruise it on home. Its the lowest risk in my opinion.

It's simpler, means he can be easier on the car, not be looking in his mirrors for a lunging tri-star in his side-pod/tyres and generally feel a lot more comfortable. Also, less risk of binning it in qually!

The only risk is Rosberg slowing down to block Hamilton and drop him into the 3rd place car, but if Rosberg is going that slowly, I dont think Hamilton will have an issue getting around him safely.

However, I fully expect Hamilton to just go for it. :D

Rosberg needing to back Hamilton into the 3rd place man would be a pretty interesting situation. If it came to that, he'd have nothing to lose.

I am not sure it is actually possible (realistically) though, as Hamilton is in the same car, and it can only be SO wide. Look at Kimi and Alonso.. They would need to slow down quite a bit to drop him to the Williams!

The Williams can be quick though, so I suppose there is a glimmer there for Rosberg..

True, true, but if the alternative is winning the race (nice, granted) but losing the title, I'm sure Rosberg might give it a try, especially if there's someone fast and reckless in P3 like Massa :p

Assuming the double DRS is on the main straight then the following one, it would take possibly one of the greatest stints of all time for Rosberg to get and keep Hamilton behind a Williams. Get him behind a Williams, then stay just far enough ahead of the Williams to give it DRS support to defend from Hamilton, but far enough away to not be overtaken, then somehow control the pitstops... if he were to pull that off he would deserve this and every other world title until he dies. :p

I get the feeling Williams won't want to play ball anyway. All season they've seemed content with finishing behind the Mercedes cars, even in Austria where they could and possibly should have won, but their only aim was to finish ahead of Ferrari.

I think Hammy should just ram Rosberg clean off the track and follow him in.

Win Win Win

Win Championship. Check.
Get one over Rosberg. Check.
Middle finger to stupid double points system. Check.

Imagine if Massa did come second with Rosberg first, what a story that would be considering Interlagos 2008 lol.

Im going to be lazy here.

What points are Hammy and Rosberg on?

What does 1st and 2nd place in abu dhabi get?

HAMILTON WILL BE CHAMPION IF HE FINISHES...
-First or second.
-Third, fourth or fifth and Rosberg fails to win.
-Sixth with Rosberg out of the top two.
-Seventh or eighth with Rosberg not in the top three.
-Ninth and Rosberg is not in the top four.
-Tenth (or lower) and Rosberg is no higher than sixth.

ROSBERG WILL BE CHAMPION IF...
-He wins and Hamilton is not second.
-He finishes second and Hamilton is not in the top five.
-He is third and Hamilton is out of the top six.
-He is fourth and Hamilton is no higher than ninth
-He is fifth and Hamilton is no higher than 10th.
*Rosberg cannot win if he finishes sixth or lower.

Nope. Im pretty convinced Hamilton's car will have a problem in Abu Dhabi and Rosberg will win by default.

My Prediction:

Lewis Hamilton: (Takes of Headphones) I need to come first Dad, I'm a driver, I'm a survivor, I'm not going to give up, I'm going to work harder.

Anthony Hamilton: (Interrupts Lewis) What have I told you about listening to Beyonce Son? I'm going to confiscate your ipod. Lewis don't take any risks. Think about it logically for a minute.

Lewis Hamilton: (Sobs for a second as he passes over his itunes collection). I'm listening, what shall I do?

Anthony Hamilton: If you qualify second behind Nico and try to pass him he will try and crash you of as you have experienced before. Don't push your car too much as you don't want reliability to decide your World Championship.

If you want, stay close to him, pressure him into a mistake or simply go 'Hammer Time' son, use your driver instinct if you can work those tyres and jump him from a pit stop. Don't worry about any other cars, they are cannon fodder.

Lewis Hamilton: Dad you're right. I still have opportunities to come first without taking unnecessary risks.

Anthony Hamilton: Good boy, you don't want your hair to get too sweaty. We've seen all season how you cannot manage it and struggle to keep it's shape in the post race assembly room. You need to look good for your public and the media and think of the PR opportunities during the build up to 2015. You will be a poster boy for the British public.

Lewis Hamilton: (Kisses Dad and crys) Where would I be without you? You are absolutely right.

Anthony Hamilton: You'll do well. Keep your composure(!)

I think that past actions would have affected that one though. I mean 1994 Schu vs Hill was very suspect. Once accidental, twice, maybe not so much.

LOL! i haven't seen that for a while, its not as bad as i remember it. Brundle was right when he said Schumi hit the wrong part of him, i wonder what the FIA would have done if he took JV out? would they have disqualified the champion? they didn't with Senna. I feel they had an easier choice with him coming second.

Being DQ for that year was quite harsh imo.

Just caught the highlights. I guess both Rosberg and Lewis can take something from that. Nico will know that Hamilton makes mistakes when it's on the line; whilst Lewis will know that he was once again faster than Nico and should have won.

With Lewis having the lead you've got to think he should be favourite but I can't shake the feeling that Lady Luck will end his race and deliver the title on a plate to Nico.
