Current versions of Asus firmware have been pretty poor due to FCC restrictions and Asus being lazy.
Try this forked older version instead, been pretty popular recently and works well: http://forums.smallnetbuilder.com/showthread.php?t=18914
Will involve a factory reset and reconfiguration unfortunately. Merges some of the latest changes and updates so you aren't really missing out compared to the newer versions (aside from some of the web interface eye-candy).
I use the latest Merlin custom firmware. Rock solid and lightning fast

OK so after popping to my brothers for a coffee and browsing twitter via my mobile on his crappy o2 router the pictures load instantly and internet seems snappy all round
So I think my RT-N66U is not performing correctly, if I put the latest Merlin firmware on later do I have to update it >> reset with pin >> add all my details back in again or is a config save and restore OK to do on these once updated and hard reset
Thanks
Will try, thanks
Let me know what you find with it
I don't personally rate the latest Merlin, try what I did and go back a version - seemed a lot more responsive for me despite a lot of people having no issues on the latest.
Make sure you throw a 30-30-30 reset in there!
Made the change this morning so will test over the next few days, sure the wife will tell me if its worse, she normally does![]()
