Ebay bid from italy

Someone from Italy bid and won an item i was selling on ebay even though i had it set as "United Kingdom Only" in the listing. However the shipping cost to Italy seem rather excessive and the buyer is demanding i send it via the cheapest non-tracked method (Within 3-5 days), i really am not comfortable sending the item via a non-tracked method.

Should i just get the cost of the tracked one and send them the invoice for it via Ebay? The person has not paid yet. I'm not sending it via a non-tracked method seeing as if it gets lost it will cause so much hassle, it is also only insured for £20.

Is it worth the risk over the second highest bidder? I assume you can deny the Italy bid seeing as you stated UK only?

Well there's no guarentee the second buyer is legit but at a£1 loss and ability to send it tracked I'd take the second buyer without a second thought.

Not sure if related but ebay recently rolled out the Global Shipping Programme and sent out emails about it.

So we can sell to buyers from certain countries and don't have to pay any extra for shipping just the usual cost.

Anyhow not sure why you're actually sending the item when you stated it was listed as UK only.

I thought that eBay started a new thing this/last week, where UK-only auctions can be won by non-UK residents. Then eBay gives you a PO box address to send the item to at normal UK shipping cost and eBay does the rest?

As a buyer you don't get to dictate the shipping method and the price. Find the price to send it properly tracked, insured etc. and if the buyer doesn't like it then send a second chance offer. Don't send stuff to Italy without tracking, it will disappear.

Royal Mail doesn't count either, anything that involves the package getting handed off to a local Italian postal service will disappear. UPS it.

Don't know if it's still the case but the Italian postal service used to be renowned for lost post, so much so that many sellers who ship internationally would single out Italy as a country they wouldn't ship to. I believe also the new ebay international postage thing means you send it to a UK address and ebay do the rest, I'd rather suspect you don't have UK only postage in your Ebay settings.

I have put it up for second chance offer, however the original can leave negative. Although ebay said they would remove it. Got fed up with the live chat not answering my questions, so i'm now in a 35 minute queue to speak to someone in the UK. What a joke.
