Good podcasts anyone?

You actually have quite a few gaming podcasts in your list! Which would you recommend as being similar in quality/content as Crate & Crowbar?
Gaming podcasts save me a fortune... I listen to folk talk about them so much I get bored and never buy any except in Steam sales. :-) It's more about distraction than information for me; they keep me entertained in a relaxed way while the work night passes, and it's the banter from the teams which is the attraction.

They all have their advantages. The Videogamer UK team are pretty good, and I like the One Life Left bunch as well. The 3-ish hour Giantbomb guys can be a bit hit & miss, but it's just a matter of trying a few and seeing which teams you can listen to easily.

Of all of them, the IGN Au team can be the most blunt, sweary and perhaps honest, which marks them out from the rest of the IGN crowd. Historically they try too hard to find the good in bad games, an accusation I'd also level at the Gamers With Jobs guys as well. I wish I was so easily pleased. :-)

Oh, and I forgot the IGN UK podcast. For UK-centric gaming and a lot of movie talk they're pretty good.

Ultimately though gaming podcasts are simply for the small hours of my work morning when my brain can't deal with the mundane work or tolerate more serioius subjects. I probably wouldn't bother with any of them if I was listening in my free time.

Thanks Andrew!

I usually find that after listening to them I just want to go home and play. Haha! Not good really but after finding out Crate & Crowbar were back and listening again, I bought Titanfall + Road Redemption + CoD Advance Warfare + Humble Bundle Haloween on one day. Granted, I got the lot for £30.

I've tried the Joe Rogan Experience and the Giant Bombcast but they didn't appeal.

Will check out No Such Thing as a Fish I think :)

Giantbomb Cast 10/10 Hands down best gaming podcast available. Every week continues to be funny with great discussions also.

GankW*nk - Scottish guys, downloaded by chance when I needed some more podcasts during a plane journey. So, so funny. Might only get some of the humor if you are Scottish though. Quite large gaps in their content but even the back catalog has me literally laughing out loud.

Kermode and Mayo's Film Review - Really good content, funny in places and a must listen for anyone that loves their movies. Nothing like a good Kermode rant.

Here is a list of podcasts I listen to, most are updated on a weekly basis mainly gaming podcasts.

Used to have many more but 2014 seems to be the year a lot of podcasts have closed or randomly stopped with no reason after being around for 3 to 5 years on a regular basis.

Double Whammy this week with Joe Rogan on Smodcast with Kevin Smith. :D

Never actually listened to Joe Rogan but after listening to the latest Smodcast I will be listening in the future.

BBC R4 'In Our Time' podcasts. Really good discussion of various periods of history. Not too popular either. I used them to compliment my revision when I was doing my degree.

I've tried the Joe Rogan Experience and ... but they didn't appeal.

It's possible you genuinely didn't like the show but I'd wager that you heard a poor episode (essentially anything discussing UFC). Give it one last try by picking any of these but they're in my order of preference.

He has an app which allows you to download/stream the podcast on both iOS and Android.

Nutrition......................Joe Rogan Experience #459 - Dr. Rhonda Patrick
Reasearching the Bible..Joe Rogan Experience #142 – Graham Hancock
Unconventional Biology..Joe Rogan Experience #165 – Bruce Lipton
Quantum Physics..........Joe Rogan Experience #334 - Dr. Amit Goswami
Body Hacking...............Joe Rogan Experience #137 – Tim Ferriss
Economics...................Joe Rogan Experience #136 – Daniel Pinchbeck

JRE is a genuinely mind expanding experience.

Yeah, I didn't neccesarrily not like the guy, the subject matter just didn't appeal, I honestly don't remember what it was about as I turned my mind off with it in the background.
I'll give it another try as so many people here are raving about it.

Thanking trentylad for finding me out crate and crowbar.

The best of the games casts currently doing the rounds. Video gamer can be hit or miss, i like to like, but if their not talking games, the conversation drops of the maturity scale.

The Skeptics Guide to the Universe, sheesh been years. They go too far, they're even worse than the kooks they batter up against.

Gets really annoying after a while.

My main two are Freakonomics and TED talks.

I tried The Moth for a while and although the stories are amazing and it's well produced, they are all so depressing!
