Police breaking laws and using coercion.

Qeue Asim whinging about how the police are on OCUK when they should be working :p.

If I had the self control I'd love to work for the police. I imagine even with the grief from certain society members its quite a rewarding job.

I'm not police, just a civilian detention officer. (Who has been designated with the powers of a constable while in the police station by our Chief Constable)

I've seen a lot of body worn video from officer dealing with people in "Public Order" situations and the officers tolerance amazes me sometimes.

:D a 'friend' emailed it to me with the subject of "since you always love the police what about this". He's just sour he's a bit of a dick so they treat him as such :D.

Keeps you in a job? Internal affairs?(or is that an American thing?).

Nope, I work for the newspaper that you and many other forum members don't like to admit you read :D

Exactly why I couldn't be one. Some of the videos I've seen the perpetrators need a good kicking. I don't see why anyone should have to deal with that.

Haha I won't lie I am guilty of reading the DM along with all other major papers if I stuck with one I'd never get an unbiased story. At least by reading multiple various "wing" papers I get some sense of what's going on. However that one was a case of not checking source and no one else is reporting it so I am somewhat suspicious of your devious reporting :D.

Lol asim.

Anyone else just read this as "the police came and asked me why I was stood around loitering in a drugs spot, I didn't like it so I exaggerated the story somewhat to make sure I got some people on my side."

Oh, everyone? Yeah, unlucky buddy.

Asim's famed for making up **** like this. Its a bit sad really but i guess if his life is that bad he has to post made up fantasies like this online to make him look 'interesting' then its kind of pityful.....

If you think London is bad OP then trying living in Northern England. It's a regular occurrence on the west end of Newcastle. I dare say our Police is far more violent than London's. It's common knowledge that London's police force is actually fairly decent and less corrupt than ours. It's not unheard of most of the Police force up here is either on the take or involved with BNP/EDL/UKIP. West end of Newcastle our Police force has a pretty bad rep for this sort of thing.

I've policed the north east for nearly 15 years and my patch is one of the most socially deprived areas in western Europe. I'm only hands on when it's needed, I'm not corrupt and never have been and although I'm supposed to remain politically neutral, I'm quite happy to say that the politics of the BNP and EDL do not appeal to me and it's written police policy that a serving officer cannot be a member of any political party, the BNP being specifically named. Big risk in joining I'd say.

Consider yourself lucky they didn't cave your head in. Sounds like you were being a bit of a ****.

Can't think of an answer that wouldn't get me sussed for a month.

Realistically always treat the Police force with respect like the Police force of the former Soviet Union. Both have pretty much equal powers these days and can stop / search for anything for any reason they determine at the time.

No offence matey but dry that one out and you could fertilise the garden.

They proceed to tell me I'm "standing in a weird place that's all". I immediately inform them that I'm aware they're full of BS and that there is absolutely no legal definition of a "weird place" and any powers given to police over citizens standing in such "weird places".

So they approached you, looking to ascertain why you were stood on your own outside a pool club at night and instead of just saying you were waiting for your friend, you elected to backchat them and play the smart ass, then wonder why they responded negatively?

It appears you do possess illegal drugs and therefore you deserve to get searched! On your OcUK profile you say your interests are Lemon and Amnesia - one can only assume you're referring to a type or types of weed.

Also, can't you buy an Uzi in 15 minutes or something like that?

Edit: And as mentioned, you can always file a complaint or film your next encounter as that will help strengthen your case.

Lol lemon round here means particularly good crack :p

Seeing corruption first hand is extremely saddening, and to be forced to lose all respect for police is even sadder.

Waiting outside the pool club for a friend, frozen solid with my hands in my pockets a 5-man strong gang of utter scums puts on their anchors and run out towards me. They proceed to tell me I'm "standing in a weird place that's all". I immediately inform them that I'm aware they're full of BS and that there is absolutely no legal definition of a "weird place" and any powers given to police over citizens standing in such "weird places".

They then hastily change their story from "weird place that's all" and proceed to tell me I'm in a "drugs hotspot".

I inform them that I'm not aware of, or witness to, any drug taking going on and it still doesn't give them any right to approach me as they/myself have not seen any violent crime or had any reports of violent crime occurring.

Seeing their faces go red due to losing all hope of performing an illegal search, he proceeds to ask me my name and details. Still confused about being a suspect in "standing in a weird place" and/or "standing in a drugs hotspot" I ask him to clarify his suspicions and the reasons for approaching me. Response, "just give me your ID or we'll put you in a cell to find out who you are". :(

Knowing I have a friend on his way to meet me, and knowing that I wasn't guilty or wanted for anything, and to avoid the displeasure of being threatened and coerced further, I just gave him my ID.

The funny thing is, they managed to ascertain whether or not I had drugs on me and whether I was guilty of standing in a weird place just from doing a name check. :D I asked the copper how amazing this was and he just walked away red faced.

These scums were clearly motivated to approach me for reasons other than crime detection and prevention, possibly race. So people of OcUK, what can we do to stop scums like this from tarnishing and giving a bad rep to our Police forces?

To be fair to the police on this occasion, they were approaching a known arms dealer.

Indeed.

Watch how the police/security forces of other western nations deal with such situations on YouTube and be thankful for the enormous restraint shown by the British police.

As someone who's been threatened at knifepoint twice I welcome the fact that the police do their jobs and approach people looking and acting suspicions.

When I used to walk from the bus stop to home in the middle of the night after work I got pulled by the police on more than one occasion.
It didn't bother me and took all of 2 minutes.

I think that's actually illegal... They have to have reasonable suspicion and "Race" is not reasonable in the slightest.

Which is quite sad really as it's statistically proven certain races are more likely to commit crimes - or maybe are more likely to be arrested and charged for them at least.

That's a bit of an over simplification. Some people are more likely to commit crime due to socio-economic backgrounds and some ethnic backgrounds are more likely to have certain backgrounds.

That doesn't mean these statistical correlations should play a part in a Police Officer taking a particular course of action though.
