**** Sony Xperia Z3 ****

After been a Samsung fanboy to say the least with mobile phones, I was ready to get my Note 4 in store yesterday but was attracted to the Z3. Normally I would just brush them aside but there was something about the Z3 which made me think twice.

I ended up walking out of the store with a Z3 and boy am I glad I did so. I had the S5 and the Note 4 for a short period before this and I feel this phone gives the best of both (imo). I am completely amazed at how good this phone is. The camera is great, the speakers are great, the build quality is amazing, and the battery lasts forever. I'm on 74% with 2h30m SOT (web browsing + sms mostly).

All in all I am glad I went for the Z3. If there was one thing I had to complain about is it takes forever to charge. Does anyone know of any chargers or software tweaks that will increase the charge current?

Edit: Does anyone also know how I can have lock screen notifications for SMS?

Picked one of these up last week - took a bit of getting used to after years with an iPhone. Quality phone though and some android annoyances aside I would definitely recommend.

As mentioned it is a slippery bugga mind - not really a fan of cases but I got the case mate barely there which works well with a minimum impact on aesthetics or size.

This is probably more android related in general rather than specific to the Z3. About fifteen minutes ago I sent a really long text (long story) and the default sms app said it would class it as more than one SMS message but it still sent it as one whole text. However I still haven't got the tick next to time it was sent to say it was successfully sent. Problem with phone network? (either mine or theirs) or the more obvious reason? If my number is blocked by someone out of interest, would the text just sit there without any failed to send etc message?

Long messages will be sent as an MMS I believe so you need to check your network provider has your account set to send MMS.

Ok thanks. Will give them a ring and see what they say.

Is a text message getting split into seperate parts an android thing? Can't remember having this issue with iOS.

edit 2: The tick has finally appeared. Just took a long time to send it seems.

Can't you change that long messages thing in the settings, I never send MMS's but I do send long texts every so often?

I would check but I don't have an android phone to hand atm :)

Well in the sms messenger settings itself I have two MMS settings, MMS auto download and MMS when roaming, which are both ticked.

Something strange happened today, I think it was after a Sony Xperia update.
I use the standard Z3 launcher and after the xperia update it reset the launcher settings to how it was out of the box. My installed apps are still installed but it was strange it reset my home screens.

Has this happened to anyone else?

I might just change to Google launcher to stop this happening again, seems much the same

Yup, I use:

Nova Launcher Pro.
Today Calendar + Widget.
PowerAmp built in widget.
Wallpaper.
KitKat icon pack from Play Store/XDA I forget, the names are fairly generic so no direct hits via search (installed them ages ago).

When are we likely to see Android 5.0 hit the Z3?

I've tried to get dashlock to show notifications for sms on the lockscreen but only got as far as managing to just turn the screen on when a message arrives (the only way I know it's an sms is because of the notification panel at the top of the screen).

Z3 fell out of my pocket onto concrete driveway yesterday and got scratched three corners out of four so gutted :(

I should have bought a case but I just hate cases on nice looking phones...
