Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2014, Yas Marina - Race 19/19

So it begins. The double points system has created some tension and anxiety which makes better viewing for today. Shame all the other manufacturers have been far behind compared to Mercedes.

Horner is just trying to push Merc to give in on the engine upgrade in 2015.
I did find it funny how Horner said "these new engines have cost over $1bn" and then says F1 should be saving costs.

As I've always said, these engines are a waste of time and money. $1bn and counting.

Horner will never have bernies job as Ferrari would veto it.

You also constantly ignore the alternative, which was a single engine supplier.

Plus were talking engine costs increasing by ~$10m to a team, which while a sting, it's not massive slices of their budgets, and wasn't unexpected either.

Really? I've never seen that in F1 ever. You will always have at least two suppliers. They could ask Cosworth back.

I've' got multiscreen from the BBC ready as well as my telly....Lets do this TeamLH

Honda wouldn't have joined, and Mercedes and Renault would have left.

Also, "ask Cosworth back"? Its not like there's a long waiting list of people queueing up waiting for an invite. Cosworth left F1 in the V8 era as they found it unsustainable and were uncompetitive. Are you saying they would jump back in as a favour for the FIA?

Lets agree to disagree. You love the new engine while spending over $1bn and losing two teams., and saving £300 a race using less fuel.

Me either bring back the V8(Ferrari\RB have said) or a twin turbo V6. Last option a standard hybrid part.

Not really it's to the letter, there's just no official test, unlike the flexing of the main wing with weights on the end.

The say no movement, but obviously physics mean there will be some movement in the materials, so they have the test and a limit of what is allowed in terms of movement.

It sounds like in this case they haven't got a test or an slowed degree of movement. Instead everyone's wings flex, the FIA have just decided that Red Bulls flex a bit more than an arbitrarily picked point that isn't regulated, and then exclude them for it.

I can understand RBRs frustration, everyone has pushed the limit, RBR are just at the head when the FIA have clamped down.

Sky currently have some right pretentious toss on at the moment with someone bashing on a piano while some other guy gives a speech about the season. Yawn.

Lol.

You really don't get it do you. I love that you think all the engine rules are designed to save 300 quid of fuel . Your so blinkered its hillarious. You say the new engines are a waste of money, yet your suggestion is to either throw then away (removing the recouping of those costs over the next 6 years), or to throw them away and invent a new engine formula, which will presumably cost another $1bn!

I think you set the presidence on your opinion on the engine when you started comparing wet and dry lap times to show the new engines were 20s slower than the V8s. I.e. it should be ignored.

It's flexing in a different plane to everyone elses. Everyone else is within the rules that have to pass a weight test. Rbr is flexing in a place with no weight test and as such no permitted movement.
