Dragon Age:inquisition

DF seem to imply the rare 1fps drop at 1080p is somehow a toss up between choosing that and the fps locked at 900p.

They definitely seem to have a slant on things lately.

Not to mention the DF experts knowing everything is down to a CPU disadvantage.

Played about 10 hours so far and I'm enjoying it. However is it just me or does this feel like an MMO to anyone else?

Yes it does. I mentioned initially the combat felt like an MMO and ARPG but to be honest it feels more like the former. The combat, the way new areas are separate distinct zones and gathering resources means it definitely feels like an MMO. As you say a lot of games use MMO mechanics but it's very apparent with this game.

I'll be picking this up on the PS4 later today, don't normally bother reading those face off reviews but was having a look and watching the frame test video.

I found it pretty funny, in all honestly without the fps counter or the review telling me, I would both never have noticed the 1fps dips (or 1fps increases) on the PS4 version or the "lesser" texture and tessellation details on the xbox one, I doubt I would ever notice the difference between 1080p or 900p while playing either.

It all seems a bit pointless, now if one console was producing half the frame rate of the other or the graphics were clearly inferior by a long margin at just a glance then it might be worth nothing, but at the moment it seems like people enjoy pointing out the tiniest, unnoticeable flaw rather than sitting down and enjoying the game.

I sense that the Xbox One version will be a little bit blurrier and suffer from a framerate that drops more often but in practice it wouldn't be a big deal. I think that resolution drops become worse the further you go. So you can easily sport 720/792p but it's harder with 900p. Either way you're essentially enjoying the same game with some small differences. I like the fact that the information is out there and debate happens but I think you have to digest the information with a sense of perspective.

EDIT - oops hadn't read the DF analysis until today. Sounds like the Xbox One has the more consistent framerate. Although for me the performance bit that's lacking is the cut scenes.

I have found this a few times. Make out the lower res version must be better as the higher res version loses a frame here and there :D it really is swings and roundabouts tbh

Holy next-gen chest hair! It ought to be using nVidia TressFX. ;) :D

can anyone rember what option they chose to have a dwarf make an army of golems for the fight against the blight? its been along time so cant rember exactly what happened.

Found two bugs so far - one where the dialogue wheel didn't come up so you couldn't choose a conversation option. Had to quit and restart. Also the sound just disappears completely from time to time. Xbone.

And is using potions the only way to heal? You can't do it via spells? My party are dropping like flies every five minutes.

Think I'm going to start again. I had two small children nagging in my ear so I missed half of what's going on and the mage just seems ineffective against the bad guys.

The sound on the Xbone version does seem to bug out every now and again

Anyone had the moon walking glitch? Mid convo my character got stuck in a moonwalking animation! Was quite funny tbh, i moved around like it for a bit and jumped then it fixed itself :)

Also had the glitch where the convo options dont show up, but quit to menu and loaded it back up no problem

Played a few hours now and the Tactics screen is annoyingly simple :(

In DA:O you could actually set up your party to be competent, to only use certain abilities on Elites, to focus healing on your tank etc. However, in this, you just activate or de activate abilities which is a bit annoying.

From the little bit of Dragon Age: Origins I played, it was overly complicated for my tastes. Admittedly now in Inquisition, it is very barebones. But I'm playing it as an arcade shooter and haven't really used it at all aside from the mini tutorial.

Started this morning for a couple of hours, set off in nightmare mode, dropped it to hard during the prime demon fight, realised it was just going to hamper my enjoyment.

So far really enjoying it, spent time last night with the keep app to setup my choices was impressed it knew all my choices from my origins pc save and da2 PS3 save.

Wow, I just saw my first ever dragon. My jaw hit the floor in wonder and amazement.

Haha just saw mine too, had to u-turn and run away pretty sharpish!

The combat is annoyingly chaotic because of the incredibly limited tactics you can set up and Varric's utterly random desire to go and melee things all the time. I am enjoying the game, probably 5 hours in, but the combat is a mess.
