Ditching PS4 and moving to XBO

I would stick with the PS4.

Both consoles have had there sticky patches but games are starting to come out thick and fast now on both consoles.

Appreciate the comments, but I think my mind is made up. Actually I don't think, it is :)

It's only about one game, Rocksmith 2014, and Sony's poor attitude to adding the DLC. Besides, since I hooked up the kids XBOX 360, and spent nearly £100 on DLC, I'll have to move onto the XBOne eventually so I don't lose that investment :)

Agreed, I'd stick with the ps4 if it was me but I think he's got the itch and that is it really. He's using the forum for reassurance but doubt it'll change anything, so he might as well go for it, but I bet he won't post saying he made a mistake if he regrets it later down the line..

So - forgetting all the arguments/points over should I/shouldn't I, I've been offered the following trade and would appreciate opinions on whether it's a decent deal or not:

My PS4, unboxed, with two controllers (+ replacement rubber sticks), dual charge unit, camera, FIFA15, and AC:unity

For: Boxed Xbox One + Kinect (Day one edition), with single controller, charge kit, and AC:Black Flag

Saves me the hassle of losing money on selling mine and buying new, plus I'll have a ton of games (most of which I don't play) that I can sell on.

Worth it?

From a pure monetary value perspective definitely not but it seems you are set on doing it. So from the perspective of having to sell your PS4, then it would be an ok deal.

My reasoning isn't based on specific releases, or quality of games, or anything else - if it was I would stick with the PS4. My decision is all about the DLC for Rocksmith 2014, and Sony's poor attitude to it, particularly in Europe (SCEE).

It's now my main use of the console. If other games don't look/perform quite as good, I really don't care too much. All about the DLC on that one game.

Ideally, as I'm now using the kids XBOX 360 with the game and DLC all working fine, I would keep the PS4 - but I can't keep two consoles downstairs, using their 360 is a very short term thing (as the Mrs has told me).

So I don't see I have masses of options really. Short term using the 360 is ok, but my wife's OCD about everything looking tidy and in it's place, so the 360 has to go back upstairs soon.

Only difference being a few media features and the controller's are better on the Xbox One for battery life and wear and tear of the sticks. The gaming side is down to the exclusives you are after. Just choose which ones you prefer and go with that console. :)

Cheers - the guy wanted "a bunch of new games, incl FIFA15" - and basically I agreed to FIFA15 plus one from a list of games I have. Agreed, purely monetary it's not great - but working on the basis of hassle + depreciation of selling my gear then buying new, it seemed ok-ish - probably taking less of a loss.

I think most people would say basing your decision on a single title is a bit short sighted, but in the end you are the one who is going to live with your decision and if the DLC you speak of (presumable Sony are not going to release it on PS4) is really a deal breaker then go for it.

Ordinarily I would totally agree - my main uses of a console normally would be the latest FIFA, Assassins Creed, and a decent driving game. That's it - other games will come and go but nothing I'd spend lots of hours on. Now with Rocksmith coming as a higher priority than all the above.

I think Sony will eventually sort all the DLC out, but it will take them months (and months), rather than the promised weeks. Once I found out that the PS3 still isn't getting the new DLC (it's released each week) in a timely fashion, that was a deal breaker. For example, a new (Bon Jovi) pack went live yesterday morning - once I setup the 360 it was available immediately, whereas the PS3 (and therefore the PS4) still hasn't got the DLC from a few weeks back.

For almost anyone else it is a stupid reason to swap console's, fully appreciate that :) For me it's important enough, now I just need to get the best deal and take the least loss I can get away with.

I still dont understand why this guy just hasnt bought another 360 since it seems to be the best compromise and least effective loss. Then again is it unacceptable the delays getting the DLC onto the store without explaining the delays (the DLC is on US PSN)...

not sure how reliable this link is but it seems psn US store has Bon Jovi content incoming?

Yep - Sony US are a little slow, but they are at least getting the content.
SCEE are just not putting stuff live, despite agreements between SCEE and Ubisoft. It's mostly an SCEE issue.

It's the same deal with the "import" tool, where you can get all the content from the original Rocksmith game working on the 2014 game. I think the US store have it, but the EU store don't.

Problem is SCEE are completely silent on the issue. It was posted that they would add more of the back catalogue on each week, and I've watched the EU PSN updates each week, eagerly anticipating what would be added, but each week they have added nothing - so as more content goes on they get more and more behind.

You mean sell the ps4 and get a 360?
I mean just getting another 360 when it seems the only motivation is a single game which you already have on the 360 and find acceptable. I cant imagine a second hand 360 is that much nowadays...

EDIT: http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/965584-December-delays-with-PlayStation-DLC-in-the-EU?
December delays with PlayStation DLC in the EU

As many of you know, we’re currently experiencing some delays of Rocksmith 2014 DLC on PlayStation platforms in European territories, Australia & New Zealand. We hope these issues may be resolved by mid-December, but we do not have final confirmation on a date at this time.

We also expect Jimi Hendrix DLC will appear per the original schedule -- December 16 in the US and December 17 internationally -- but we believe the DLC content currently missing, as well as the content scheduled between now and then, will not hit the original schedule.

Xbox and Steam platforms should be unaffected during this time. Thank you for your patience.

No that wouldn't be a problem, but beyond a temporary thing (like I have now) we only have room for one console downstairs with the main TV. I would have no problem at all keeping the PS4 and getting something else, either a 360 or an XBone, but the Mrs is a little ocd about everything having it's place. Agree 100% it would be the most rational thing to do, but I'm too under the thumb to disobey her :)

Cheers for that ps3ud0 - I was reading that this morning. It sounds promising, though going on SCEE's track record I'm not holding my breath.

So now I have to work out a) if I can sweet talk the Mrs into letting me keep the 360 downstairs for a few weeks to see if the issues get resolved, then b) is it more cost effective for me to re-buy all the dlc on the ps4 (as I bought it yesterday on the 360 - around £100 worth).

Mind was made up, now having doubts.... daaaamn :/

Honestly, get the Xbox One if Rocksmith is that important to you. Rocksmith is the reason I am keeping my Xbox 360 at the moment plugged in. I just don't want to spend £60 on the same game, especially there is no insentive at all to do so, no extra content, a game where graphic don’t matter. I have splice a component cable for the 360 so I don't have audio lag there too.

Don't fall into the trap of the graphic debate. I have both console and even if one console does look nice in comparison, you, as the user, will never notice. Because you are not in a position to compare side by side and each game on their own holds its own. I have yet seen any game so far that the difference is so great it makes me sick in my stomach that they gimped the Xbox One version. Strangely enough, there have been reports that games like AC Unity runs better on the Xbox One! But grass is nicer on PS4…

The battery life on the DS4 pad is turd, it really is. I have to charge it every other session pretty much. I think I might as well leave it plugged in 24/7 to the USB port and treat it as a wired controller because it is so bad, worse than my 7 year old rechargable battery on my 360. So bad I think it may be a joke from Sony and no doubt they will release a better battery life version in the conole's mid life cycle and milk more money from us.

I have Rocksmith waiting for me to play at Xmas, how much is the DLC btw?

Individual tracks are £2.49, there's some 3-packs at about £6.70, 4-packs at £7.99, and 5-packs at £9.89 - something like that. It's easy to spend a LOT :) I think I got both Foos packs, Avenged, Bullet For My Valentine, Oasis, Iron Maiden, Green Day, Alter Bridge, and Slash - all packs, plus a few individual songs.

The "game" is awesome, and there's few better feelings than learning a track then switching it off, plugging into an amp, and playing "for real" :) Hope you enjoy it.
