Forget 34UM95, here's 34UC97! (CURVED 34")

Thanks, useful to know. I'm contemplating buying a new PC next year anyway but I'd like to get a new monitor first to see how it runs on my current rig. Then I'll be better placed to decide what kind of new hardware I need.

Quick Q regarding these monitors, for those that are using one right now.

Could you test a 21:9 movie trailer on YouTube on it? Example:

Does the screen fill up or does the video produce black bars on all sides of the monitor? I'd heard it may be the latter as streaming sites seem to force a 16:9 aspect ratio, but never had anyone test it.

Would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

if the source is 21:9 then it will fill up the whole screen and just tested your youtube link to confirm.

Fantastic, could you possibly confirm with Netflix too if you have it? Those are my only real concern, other than that holding out for DP 1.2a for FreeSync goodiness. Money all set aside for these :D

I have just tested Netflix. sadly it got all 4 black bars . i tried changed Ratio on monitor option itself to ' Cinema1 , cinema2 , original , or Wide ' mode it doesn't make the movie go full screen.

OCUK cust service are pretty good.

Netflix currently doesn't fill the screen, black bars all around. I've tried all sorts but unless the monitor has some sort of zoom function then there's little you can do I'm afraid.

It's annoying that the display includes several zoom modes and none of them help with this issue. Both the "cinema" modes just distort the image to get rid of top and bottom black bars - horrid!

Anyone else seeing windows mysteriously rearrange/resize themselves whenever you use the switch user screen on Windows 7?

If I have windows that extend to the bottom of the screen and/or are on the far right of the screen they are messed with. Windows that extend to the bottom seem to be resized so they don't go below 1200px. Windows to the right are shunted towards the left, but different windows move to different places - chrome will move a long way over so its righthand edge is around 2300 pixels, something like Calculator will move in a bit but still be outside of the equivalant 16:9 resolution (the only thing I could think of that might be causing this).

An extensive trawl of the net has not found any answers. It is not related to the PC using a "simulated" display when the monitor goes to sleep, as in a similar issue discussed on a few forums. In fact, the windows all stay in their rightful place when the machine sleeps and wakes. It is ONLY when the switch user screen is used the problem occurs. Strangely, I see no discussion of this at all. Quite rare these days!

This monitor does look brilliant but they are very expensive for what they are, hopefully at some point within the next 2 years they will get to the sub £400 mark.

Is this the case with OCUK's stock of 34UC97 monitors? Thinking of buying one.

Also, what's the best option for connectivity with these beasts? I assume the HDMI port isn't HDMI 2.0 (which is a shame, as the ports on the 980GTX are 2.0); which I guess leaves DisplayPort as the best option? I obviously want 60hz for games, etc.
