Shocking CIA torture report

The police have arrested people for much less for things they have said on twitter and facebook or have you been hiding in a cave these last few years, maybe you have... signed up to ISIL yet?

If you haven't got a knock on the door yet for your paedo doll collection then I reckon the other poster is safe.

Is that what you're trying to do?

pssst... devils advocate. idealogical differences are what it all gets down to right ? the reason why it had to happen was supposed to be to protect lives against those that would harm others.

btw edit* it wasn’t a question intended to cause offence :)

I'm glad this has come to light because it placed British personnel in a very difficult position at the time. However, whilst they highlight some of the information was not that good - good information was gleaned which was subsequently proven by further intelligence and consequent drops in activity. I think a major problem was what worked in Iraq with rapid cycling of targets and quick action did not then apply elsewhere and the US just never saw that.

my way of life

edit: that's a proper sith sort of question, man.

edit edit: I prefer absolute questions like:

"Would you rather eat ten gallon of sewage of have your writing hand chopped off?".

It has about as much weight as your one, phil, but less xenophobic.

its nothing to do with xenophobia. It is simply an abstract question based on the core reason for these horrid things that are happening. In fact, it doesn’t suggest 'our' way is better or theirs just that there is a struggle between ideas, just a simple sith like musing as you put it.

Evil exists on both side of the coin. I don't want my freedom to come at the expense of innocent people being illegally tortured in secret prisons.

a sensible response to a perfectly legitimate question.

Think it's quite disgusting tbh, no human deserves to be treated like that simple as that. I would probably rather have a bullet in my head than go through those kinds of torture tactics for months/years.

Not surprised one bit that this does happen and has come out.

If it gets results. So be it. May not be compiling with the Geneva Convention. Tough things have to be done in the world in which we are living nowadays.

except the report says it didn't get any results.

It said it was ineffective it didn't say they didn't get any results. Big difference. If it was largely ineffective but got you the results you actually wanted when you wanted then there is a good argument it was justified. The problem in that case is the large-scale human right's violations to get the one result you wanted. Also the question remains whether you could have gotten it anyway by other means.

I don't know, I don't work in show business or host a radio or tv show or even in politics. :)

But like you said...No smoke without fire...

Say you were accused by a stupid neighbour, who being ignorant of your completely innocent prediliction in pre-pubescent imagery, of being a Paedophile. Then a child goes missing in your area, you would be ok with the police just coming up, taking you away and using 'a little' torture to find out where the child is. I mean, it's fine they have no evidence of guilt, it's saving a child we are on about, so everything is justified!

- the interrogation program was not effective in providing intel that could otherwise not have been obtained

The whole thing is disgusting, and I think that this is firstly just the tip of the iceberg, and secondly, Obama's statement that was somewhere along the lines of "at least we admit our mistakes" is just ridiculous.

The US are never held to account for anything and I think it's embarrassing and ridiculous. Been torturing people illegally, "we're sorry, at least we let you know about it." Veto human rights laws for Israel same ****. They just od whatever the hell they want with no sanctions.
