Energy drinks

Like the smell myself, but can't stand the taste it really turns my stomach

The smell is revolting, just reminds me of nights out when younger and people getting wasted on vodka/redbull and throwing it all up.

Will only drink coffee now, never tried the relentless/monster stuff.

I've had stages of drinking a fair amount of them.

I do like the still versions (like Rehab) and since finding out that Relentless do 250ml cans I've stuck to those instead of the 500ml ones if I do feel the urge to have one.

These days all I tend to drink is decaf and water though. I rarely buy Pepsi any more, rarely buy juices/smoothies, rarely drink cordial and stopped drinking coffee a couple of months ago.

I love energy drinks but never buy them often. Too expensive.

See a lot of people mentioning lucozade which I wouldn't call an energy drink as it's only full of glucose and not much in the way of caffeine. However I have a lucozade everyday with my lunch.

46mg caffiene in a 380ml bottle of lucozade, so 60mg/500ml

80mg in a 250ml can of Red Bull, so 160/500ml

not quite in the same league, but still comparable

I love that the minute someone asks about energy drinks, the health brigade come on like a ton of bricks!

Personally if I'm after a pick-me-up that coffee doesn't offer, I go for Red Bull or Relentless Sugar Free. Mixxed Up from Lidl is pretty good and very cheap - and they do a rather nice berry version, but it's sickly sweet and not available in sugar free.

That downer tho.... No point in having more energy in the short term if you feel crap 5 minutes later...

Depends if you need to stay up for a few more hours or not.

Often tend to drink one if I've not had much sleep and I'm going out drinking, by the time you're drunk you don't notice tiredness.

The funniest thing is people in gyms drinking these, they don't seem to realise the first half hour is just them burning off all the sugar in the drink lol

MW

Rockstar bubblegum is nice, but I only drink one per week or so. if I want energy I just eat something like a apple for short burst energy, and a banana for slow releasing energy.

If I'm out on a long day and I'll be climbing up the hill lots of times, water and that electrolyte stuff you can get works wonders - no ridiculous amounts of sugar for me.

They don't seem to work for me.

Same. I tried some when my misses was in hospital giving birth to my daughter (spent a long time there with not much sleep as it was complicated) and they did nothing for me.

When I see school kids or folk here at work drinking them, I just think (rightly or wrongly) hipster.

Doing a thesis at university I did 2 all nighters back to back; went through no less than 6 Red Bulls and a whole host of chocolate bars. On the 3rd day I was delirious and could feel my heart about to die.

Can't touch the stuff now as it is just palpitation central.
