Coffee has more caffeine than red bull though and it's quite common for people to consume many coffees a day.
Caffeine is not a stimulant known to cause CNS damage, if there was clinically significant damage from drinking caffeine we'd have recognised it a very long time ago from people drinking coffee.
There is enough evidence to show that large doses do affect you adversely. Sure, a coffee or two a day, or a can of redbull a day isn't going to lead to anything - but add to that the sugars and everything, if taken in excess it isn't going to do you much good.
I've seen people end up in hospital for taking too many caffeine tablets.
Relying on such drinks to "pick you up" is a sign that you reliant on them and that you have much more ingrained issues that you need to address in your lifestyle.
