*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

I think the point is once you have level 31 you are stuck while obviously content wise youve/weve been stuck for weeks now. Hell you could end up being level 40 with later tower upgrades but still only have the VoG to run

VoG seems to be unchanged other than potentially the Exotic drops could be the higher versions - doesnt seem the case on normal but could be on hard.

LVL 30 AT LONG LAST SHOOP DA WHOOP!

F U VoG RNG!

Maxed out 2 vanguard pieces = GG

Just a head's up guys:

Hitting lvl 32 before Crota hard mode lands is probably going to be VERY difficult.
Raid armor needs 21x Radiant Shards to upgrade.

I think only people with multiple characters of the same class will be able to enter Crota's raid on hard mode on release...

Parko did the raid with us and he already has 2 raid pieces. We didn't even finish it and have played through once. It won't be terribly difficult, especially as you can swap shards for energies and vice versa. By contrast i got 9 energies from one playthrough. Couple more runs and i'll have plenty, awaiting the armour.

So VoG is still dropping armour that maxes out at light +30? What's the point of playing it when you can get +33 from tower vendors? Only thing I can think of is if you haven't got a mythoclast, a fatebringer or a VoC from it yet.

Surely the sensible thing to have done was make the two raids the same in terms of reward quality? If you have the DLC, you can run two raids a week per character, doubling your chances of getting the armour you need. So DLC owners still have an advantage, but everyone else still has a chance of reaching level 32. Is that not reasonable?

The raid armour was always going to be raid specific - little real reason to update it as the existing set serves its purpose. Be glad you have access to higher level armour as no doubt Bungie could have locked that away if they wanted to. Its difficult to make a business decision where you improve non-DLC experience by effectively reducing the 'value' of the DLC itself...

The VoG is effectively defunct once the DLC hit - its a shame as Id like to try a level 32 version of it or something with different modifiers (nightfall raid sounds like fun ;))

You know vog hard mode has been bumped up? Starter mobs are level 30, so I assume later ones are 31-32.

I'm feeling like after I've done the new raid a few times I'm going to start losing interest in destiny. There isn't enough missions in the dlc and they are too short anyway. I'm starting to get fed up of repeating the same missions over and over. If there is anymore expansions after the next one I think I'll be giving them a miss.

Got my Hunter through the Dark below story missions last night with my main fireteam. We had to drop the level on the second mission though as our being underleveled seemed to be MUCH more pronounced than I have noticed before (even compared to the raid).

To give an example:

Three Little Words Legendary Pulse rifle 306 attack - Critical shots against Red bar knight:

Level 30 - 454
Level 29 - 285 ish

We simply couldn't do enough damage to the Wizards / Hallowed knights (especially the melee ones) before they dropped us. At one point I nearly solo'd the final boss but got cocky and tried for that last shot not realising my health was minimal.

I was able to solo the daily heroic (same story mission at level 30) without any issue so no idea why we struggled so much.

Another interesting first is receiving armour not for my character class when running the ROC strike playlist. I have never seen this happen before. I know engrams can decode to a different class (well legendary+) but to have actual armour drop for a Titan when I am running a hunter....

If anyone is interested the rare armour that dropped had a light level of 21.

Aren't all the enemies in VoG hard mode level 30? From Confluxes to Atheon it's all 30, only the enemies outside the entrance are lower. I did the raid on hard on Wednesday and didn't notice any level increases to the enemies.
