Hell all - just here to double check some info on my SSD, it's coming up to a year old(ish) and on the main info panel my "Drive Health Status" is "Good", so no complaints, but under the Total Bytes Written I seem to have amassed a rather staggering 2.42TB .....and I'm not sure how and/or if this is normal so just thought I'd ask here if something is up or if everything's fine :)

Thanks for any advice in advance folks :)

i have the Samsung EVO 250GB SSD at home and i have just reached 1.33TB, i have had my drive since June so its 6 months old.

the amount written to the drive is down to what you install on the drive and what its used for, if they are games some of them can take up a fair amount of space.

is the SSD the only drive you have or do you have a HDD there as well?

to be honest i wouldn't worry about it, mine has gone up a bit lately due to my HDD failing and only got the SSD now for everything where as before i had the page file and all my games installed on the HDD.

i turn off system restore as well to save on space

one weekend i had to do a OS re install about 3 times because of different issues as well

Ahh so everythings fine -just had to check

I've a 1tb in the system too. Ssd is used for os and have diablo 3 installed (only game atm).

set the page file and install games to the HDD and keep the SSD running the minimum.

that's what i used to do, HDD had all my steam games on and SSD had my OS and main games i played online

I think this depends on where your temp folder is and if you download a lot. Even though you might save stuff to a different drive if temp is located on your ssd it'll use that to unzip etc. It's nothing to worry about though as you are transfer crazy amounts during a SSDs lifetime.

Surely you want the page file on the SSD for the quickest possible access time? Sure it might write a few more GB but the whole point of having am SSD is speed, besides the lifetime writes are pretty good nowadays

22tb pffft I'm fine :-P

The EVO'sthe first SSD I got and its been going good, no complaints, it was just with the read-out I wasnt sure whats normal/acceptable, having just the os and 1 game installed (do far ;-)) so thought I'd just check what other peoples readings were :-)

Yeah, this really - if you're not using the pagefile anyway then it'll not be wearing out your SSD. If you are using it then you really want it to be fast.

what do you guys have your page file set too?

system managed
no page file
custom size
Automatically manage paging file size for all drives

This.

In fact, if you`ve got the space, stick your game installs on your SSD.

OK, if your SSD wears out after 5 years (unlikely, unless you're really thrashing it), you shouild be able to replace it with a larger capacity model for similar or less money than you paid for your worn out one. :D
