That poll is way off the mark with what I said feller.. You've made it fit your own agenda.

You put "Warranty means everything" in the poll, I didn't say that in my post, nor was I referring to that. What I said and meant was that a longer warranty can, and in most cases, determine whether you make the purchase of a certain brand (this goes across the board with all electrical items).

I've read countless times over the years on here (and other tech forums) were a person is stuck with deciding on a few GPUs (or even other PC components tbh) and they post asking for advice. The majority of the time, it always comes down to looking at the warranty for them. Manufacturers know this and it's why they have used warranties to entice potential customers over to them, away from the competition. Not only does a longer warranty show that the brand partner has full confidence in their product(s), but it also helps the potential customer with making that final decision on a few GPUs and when it comes to selling it on in the future.

The ironic thing is, in relation to that poll, is that I recently bought a Galax Infinity that comes with a 2 year warranty. I looked at the warranty good and hard though, whilst making the decision and only for it having another guarantee on top (coil whine), which incidentally is what swayed me... ;) I took the plunge of a shorter warranty.

This poll falls flat on it's face for the purpose that it was created for.

The POLL proves that customers view warranty only as a bonus, people buy on a product merit, if it comes with a longer warranty then great but it is only a bonus.

Customers will buy the card they want and take any extended warranty as a bonus as they buy the product for its merit.

This POLL proves that.

How would you word the POLL out of interest?

So yes, the poll has fallen flat, as it bares no relevance to what I said, or meant. It might fit your own agenda of what you're asking now, but again, it certainly doesn't have anything to do with what I said.

Not really read through the thread but i buy a card based on its price/performance and the features it offers such as good cooling/noise
AMD specific features or nVidia specific features, certain free games if any until i find atleast 2 -3 cards that i want to choose from then warranty may be a contributing factor in the choice but warranty comes last.

However how i see warranty is, that everything usually gets 1 year manufacture warranty! So they should at least offer 2 years as a minimum however they should be making their cards to last! So this means they should have enough faith in their products to offer longer warranty. A short warranty makes me question if they have faith in their own durability of their cards.

People do buy cards and usually replace/upgrade every 2-3 years (with the exception of certain people with the "itch")
So they should offer warranties to at least cover these periods and people usually sell on their cards after this period. However should the warranty die/stop after its sold on?

Yea if i had two cards to choose from both near enough equal maybe slight price difference, warranty would deffo be a contributing factor here. Say the slightly more expensive card had 2 more years warranty than the other card. I would opt for the card with the longer warranty for peace of mind! Hope that helps?

But you made this poll off what I 'apparently' said. I clearly didn't state any of what you said in the OP. That's why I'm saying you've made it fit your own agenda. It has no relation to what I said or meant. It's a different poll.

So what would your POLL be?

A POLL has to give decisive clear options, it can't just be would you prefer a longer warranty because of course everyone would.

I don't keep a card for 3 years anyway.
 
Warranty who cares!!

Buy the best product. OC potential and cooling.

Never run same card for more than 6 months anyway.

up until now it was always warranty with potential....

but just purchase the 980 HOF.... had to have one :)

haven't had a card longer than 6 months since the GTX 260.

so warranty no longer the deciding factor!
 
Mostly A.

I say mostly because I would avoid taking a graphics card (or another item) from a company who has crappy RMA procedures. That being said when buying a new graphics card (once a year usually) I set myself a budget and find the very best graphics card for the money. That has ended up being sapphire for the last 5 years. 2 vs 3 year warranty on a graphics card means little to me really.
 
Im an A customer for sure, a long warranty is just a bonus as theirs a good chance I've moved on to something else or voided it before it's run it's course anyway.
 
Price should be in the poll too. Bang for buck has to be one of the most important requirements for buying a card. I don't really care about warranty as I rarely keep a card for more than a year or two anyway.
 
The two aren't mutually exclusive and nobody buys a product primarily for its warranty term.

Personally, I will select the specific model I want and then may choose one retailer over another if one offers a better warranty (though I wouldn't pay much extra). So long as the brand has a good reputation I won't worry too much about the warranty term. That said, a longer warranty does imply the brand has faith in its own products.

It also depends on what you're buying. While graphics cards will only stay in my machine for about 2 years, I would pay more attention to an SSDs or monitor's warranty.
