Breaking News: Hostages taken in Sydney

Just heard on an ABC Aus stream the suspect is an Iranian cleric currently on bail for various offenses including murder.
 
The man police believe is responsible for the Sydney siege is an Iranian cleric Man Haron Monis.

Police have said they are happy for the identity of the hostage taker to be revealed.

Monis is on bail for a string of violent offences and has a conviction for sending offensive letters to the families of deceased soldiers.

He is currently on bail for being an accessory to the murder of his ex-wife and is facing more than 40 indecent assault charges

Sounds like an utter dirtbag, can't say my heart would bleed if they end it for him.

My main worry is for the innocent people, providing they're all safe I couldn't give a rats arse what happens to the hostage taker.
 
Suspect sounds like "a bit of a knob" Wouldn't surprise me if its all smoke and mirrors but it will probably end up with him getting Martyred for Allah!

I think he's ticked nearly all the hardcore Islam nutter boxes...

honour killing of wife, sexual offences and now hostages/bomb threat... just needs a conviction for bumming small boys to complete the set

I'd like to think if he was going to do something lethal, he'd have already done it by now. That's what i'm hoping anyway.
