** SEASONIC PSU RANGE BACK AT OCUK **

Superflower although good, dont have the heritage that Seasonic do in the consumer space, and as such, I think Seasonic can and should charge a premium.

Superflower have been a superior OEM for years, they have a massive reputation.

Put some perspective on it :P Seasonic have a 40 year reputation for excellence and being on the cutting edge (though seem to be somewhat resting on their laurels of late) Superflower as far as the current consumer PSU side goes has barely a 10 year heritage and its only the last couple of years they've really moved from working off generic tried and tested designs.

I don't really want to seem like I'm bad mouthing them given how much they've strived over the last couple of years but they are a rising middle tier OEM not an established top tier OEM.

What are the cables like fully braided?

You'll be lucky mate, i'm a fan of Seasonic PSU's, i have the 760W Platinum myself. The one thing that lets these PSU's down given the price which is at the higher end of the scale is the cables, if you get 760W Platinum downwards you'll get the flat plasticky type cables, not great for cable management. I don't know if its changed or not now but above 760W Platinum like the 1050w version you'll get these unsightly things

I hate those flat modular cables, ex seasonic built corsair hx 850 owner here. Moved to an sf 1000w platinum. Fantastic unit. But they still insist on using the flat cables too for some connectors. Thankfully i use aftermarket custom made cables for gpu's, and ATX connectors, and my case has a massive amount of space to hold it all. When i used the hx 850, i ended up buying a set of the pre braided modular cables. Expensive yes but easier to route than the flat garbage supplied with the psu.

Agree entirely - not a fan of the very stiff, ugly and difficult to work with flat cables - as used by Corsair as well. Custom cables are the only way around it.
Great shame really. I think Seasonic should supply some decent braided flexible cables.

I'm going to speak to Seasonic now about their plans for custom braided cable sets, leave it with me.

Keeps fingers crossed. Maybe you could also ask them for better quality braided cables as standard out of the box, and then different colours etc as an optional kit to purchase etc.

Been running the Seasonic X-Series 850w '80 Plus Gold' for nearly a year now.

Top notch PSU never missed a beat. Def would be my recommendation over anything else I've had.

I agree, that's how it should be. Seasonic are regarded as high end, the included cables such be high end, not something you'd expect to find on Alibaba or AliExpress.

I've had a chat with my Seasonic rep and he's going to speak to HQ about the possibility of better cable sets, not just as a optional extra, but what's bundled in with the PSUs. Obviously won't happen overnight but hopefully at some point in future we will see some better cable sets to go with the quality of the PSU!

Excellent news - many thanks. Will look forward to seeing what they come up with.

Seasonic have always been reassuringly expensive, but I will do my best to get some nice offers from them from time to time.

I don't remember them being this expensive. A few years ago (when they were making 80+ bronze and silver PSUs), they weren't that much dearer than other branded PSUs (ignoring the cheapo generics).

In recent times Seasonic branded PSUs are very, very expensive. I've bought nothing but Seasonic for my last few PC iterations, but it's cheaper now to find a Seasonic made PSU with someone else's branding on it (like Antec).

Last PSU was an Antec branded Seasonic 650W for £60. Which is more my kind of price :p

But as everyone else said, you can't go wrong with em.

Have 4 Seasonic X Golds in use, 3 x 650 + 1 x 1050.

My first X650 was in 2009, all still working fine and never hear the fan on any of them.

Nice - I don't mind personally if they are a more expensive option (ideal if not but I'm personally quite happy to pay for quality) but would be nice if they were a more convenient buying option. Its the only reason personally I've bought any other brand PSU in recent history.

I think its more that other brands have reduced their prices more - a year ago or so the PSU model I have was about £20 more expensive than it is now and the closest matching Superflower was within £3 of the same price - now the closest matching SF is nearly £20 cheaper (on top of being £20 cheaper than this time last year) and a slightly higher rated wattage.
