GREAT!!!! So, I'm out looking for pirates, someone attacks me, fine, let him, he occurs a bounty. This guy (real player) won't give up, turn around and pretty much wipe him out down to 25% without a seconds though. I stop and go to type into chat that he needs to back off... Then suddenly loads of people start attacking me (federation security and a couple of player)....

Why am I in the wrong, now with a blown up ship and not enough money to get it back??????

This game is broken, waste of £35, I've tried for 3 days to get on with it, it's lack of content, repetitive play and just broken systems.

What a shame....

It's you own fault, not but a page ago you said you wasn't going to play it again, you tempted fate and fate won... :D

Yea I know! I keep getting frustrated at the obvious lack of game, but think "no, I'm throwing a strop, stick at it"...

But then a few hours later, it throws another yellow snowball at my face.

I mean, why is it that if I'm attacked by a 'clean' pilot and when I retaliate I too get a wanted bounty??? Seriously stupid.

I want to love this game so much as it's about time we had an Elite, but this is just not a game. It's a sandbox with repeating missions, 4 ways of getting money. And that's it. No end game, no real drive to do anything.

Where is a hub where I can find people who have a high bounty? Where can I search commodities? Just lots of stupid things that are breaking the game.

Cheers bud, I have been using that one :)

It's not quite to my liking. I've got a few but none are there is always something not right with it (I'm a right Goldilocks I know).

No getting away from it, I'll have to make my own. I just hate the way the control menu is laid out. IMO it should be sectioned in different menus/drop down boxes to make it easier to configure.

some 'stuff' happened today, finally got some discoveries with my scanner which is nice. Went to an unidentified source and killed a wanted person that got me 12k credits, then I killed one in a viper that only got me 800. Got a couple of stolen bits, blueprints and weapons and currently trying to dock in an outpost but it's full :( Oh and someone spoke to me which was nice. I wondered where all my money had gone and saw I've been fined 8k from the outpost I'm at but no idea why :(

Oh hang on, I did get scanned and I had 2 stolen goods me, didn't think there were any Federal ships around though.

I don't know about you guys but I love the fact we're expected to figure stuff out for ourselves as being a big part of the game. Granted I use to have to do this with the Spectrum, Commodore etc as I had *ahem* copies from my friends but Elite was one of the few games my dad bought me :)

Such a nice change from the hand holding approach games take these days.

Yep. Sort of tempted to stop answering questions as it sort of gets in the way of that satisfaction you get from finding things out for yourself.

Might I just say to you and those answering mine and others. It's really appreciated. So thank you :)

In the 80's we'd talk about it at school and then go home to try to put the theory's into practice. FFE; It took me a good week to try equipment combo's to build a ship able to be effective for assassination missions. Had to be fast enough to jump to the targets destination, hold enough fuel to get to there and then be able to survive the fight.

The FD forums are mental at the moment. I'm quite shocked to think many of those are in their 30's and 40's, everything's got to be an argument. If there's nothing to argue about then they even go so far as to try and read between the lines, then argue about that as well :o

I'm getting to grips slowly but surely. Some things I do not not know how to find out though other than asking. Like, do you lose all your credits when you die and if so what are you supposed to do when you are holding any amount to protect it?

So, I'm just shy of 100k credits now and looking to upgrade my ship. Reckon I should just go for an eagle, or save up a bit more and get a viper?

I've done my longest supercruise so far, 350,000Ls from the beacon to the only dock :o was hitting 850c in the middle part and took maybe 15 minutes.

You hardly loose any money chopping and changing ships/equipment. Just buy the Eagle now and get the Viper later :)

Yeah it all started so nicely, basically a few thousand 40-something bearded blokes. I think FD were a little naive in thinking the entire audience would be so friendly and understanding as the product brief (inevitably) changed. If there's one lesson they will have learned, it's "be vague in scope, and promise nothing".

I don't blame you as people these days seem to want it all laid out, so a game like this needs patience and some thought which just like things used to be. I mean there is no satisfaction from having your hand held is there?

I played Elite on the BBC B back in the early eighties, and cant wait to play this - I have it installed but have promised to lay off till Christmas as its a present.:)

Can anyone offer some budget joystick advice? Just bought the game and absolutely loving it, but using a ps3 controller isn't doing it for me!

From what i've read, i've narrowed it down to two options; Thrustmaster 16000m or Cyborg FLY 5 (open for any other suggestions).
The latter looks a bit more ergonomic/comfortable in my eyes but I can't find much feedback on it compared to the 16000m which seems to get praise everywhere for being precise, any opinions on the two would be much appreciated :p

Just upgraded my Sidewinder to a Hauler, so can carry a mighty eight TC.

Settling into a similar rhythm to where I got to with Oolite over the last few weeks: pick a BB mission or decide to do some exploration, but take a bunch of extra cargo along, but at a below average, "we've got loads; we're giving it away" price, just on the off chance.

I'm chuckling at the toys being chucked over this game at the mo, sure it has broken bits and stuff that just doesnt make sense but it IS Elite at its core. If you loved the original that game is still in there, you just have to make it happen for yourself rather than getting it fed to you.

I have had a great evening. Found myself a nice quiet corner of known space with a fed, empire and anarchy system all within 1 jump of each other. Means I can bounty hunt in the anarchy system and then hop over to claim the bounties when I feel like it. Oh and there is also an 800cr/T trade route between 2 of these systems if I feel like trucking.

Clearly a lot of room for this game to mature but the foundations are definitely there :)

I've uninstalled it.

For me personally it's just tedious. A fancy front with no depth. The whole make your own destiny malarky is a cop out as there is so little to do thats worth while.
