290x 8GB ideal for VRS feature?

It's pretty doubtfull that you'd be breaching 4GB with VSR and maintaining playable fps at the settings it would require to do that with a single card.

No, I just meant that a single 8GB card won't make much difference in the vast majority of scenarios given the horsepower required to push the settings that will use that much vram and remain playable.

And just in case you weren't sure, a 295x2 is still a 4GB card. Sorry if you already knew that :)

VSR is a fantastic option and does a semi decent job of copying nVidias DSR. 3200x1800 is the max resolution for the 290X currently, as opposed to nVidias 3840x2160 (full UHD). Be warned though, you will need a couple of even 3 top end GPUs to run that res with decent detail.

You may find that you'll be very happy with the results you get when downsampling @1440p tbh. A single card will be perfectly happy with that in most cases.

Frame buffer increases from resolution increases will vary greatly from game to game so it's hard to say.

With the newer games running DR and PBR the extra frame buffer might just actually come in handy.

I'd imagine you don't give a **** who copied who making a new gfx purchase but I'll humour those that think it needs pointed out every time they mention D/VSR.:p

It can be argued that VSR surpasses copying Nvidia DSR as DSR doesn't support mGPU, VSR out with the 285(a bit pointless in the grand scheme of things as it only has 2Gb) doesn't hit the same res as Nvidia yet but it's coming- the important part is mGPU simply WORKS on launch with AMD out the box.

3200x1800 is the max resolution for the 290X currently, as opposed to Nvidia's higher 3840x2160 this bit Nvidia's on top, but only single cards supported on Nvidia.

You would need two 290's(right now it rules out Nvidia) to run that res with AA, but you can drop some AA on the really demanding titles and they will still look great on a single 290/970.

Semi decent? Lol okay seen as you pointed out that you atleast need a couple of cards or even three why is it DSR doesn't really work with more than one card seen as many users report it breaks SLI kinda makes DSR useless no? Seen as you pointed out it needs more than one card. Meanwhile AMD's equivalent VSR works on more than one card just dosnt support for now as high resolution. Tell me which does a semi decent job?
If AMD copied which the did chuffin quick if thy did how come thy did a better job?

I've had DSR working with SLI

Whilethis seems to be a little off-topic based on the thread title, why are people saying that 3840x2160 is the max for Nvidias DSR?
I've used it to run games at 5K (well, 5,XXX by 2XXX, can't remember exactly).
They didn't run well as 1 980 was struggling at that res!

That said I haven't been able to test AMDs version yet as my monitor resolution is larger than the highest resolution they support.

Sorry, I meant to say that VSR is far better than DSR and AMD are the company that keep on giving and giving. My bad and sorry for any inconvenience caused.

For clarity, DSR + G-Sync + SLI is where the problem is (as far as I have read).

Well if you want to act like that... Id say IMO both do a good really job tbh seen as they are both early integrations. Just a shame some people have trouble with SLI and DSR but i'm sure nVidia will fix that promptly.

Just like some AMD users have problems running some resolutions.
Was no need saying that AMD copied nVidia and say they did a semi decent job.
