i think your right .. but at some point there was some evil snide who decided that they could take advantage of peoples connection to that feeling and manipulate it into something about sacrificing chickens..

Knife crime impacts a lot of people in the UK. Should we allow everyone the right to carry guns to counter it?

Having immediate access to a firearm certainly may have made it easier to deal with, but not really much safer. As the fallout of injured officers demonstrates.
A taser would have been just as effective and, assuming the suspect was not immune/protected against it CS/PAVA.
If he had come in with a firearm, then yeah - Completely different story.
Likely it is only a matter of time until the British police are routinely armed. How much time is anyone's guess though.
