#CMDRINFO niroe, Currently hauling around Antilope.

Also I made the move from a 360 controller to a Logitech 3D Extreme Pro which has vastly improved my experience with the game.

Temporary joystick acquired (a Logitech Freedom 2.4) untill the Thrustmaster HOTAS X (or whatever) arrived back in stock. Currently being priced gouged beyond reason.

I am making so little money but that's ok because I'm having fun still. I'm playing at a snails pace not trying to rush and that suits me fine. Still not understanding a few things around missions but overall it's really good fun. I just sold my cargo bay in my eagle and swapped for indic wotsit to pull people out of SC.

#CMDRINFO Murray Walker currently drifting around shinrarta dezhra (founders world) which by the way sells pretty much every ship upgrade you could ever want.

x55 comes today so I'll start doing the training missions and getting to grips with the game then tomorrow I should get my DK2! Can't wait.

Have fun, I recently bought the x55 and I LOVE it. Be warned though, the throttle can be quite stiff to begin with but does loosen up. I also found my joystick to be a little grindy at first in certain directions, that only took a couple of hours though to work itself out and now is silky smooth. So don't panic if you get these symptoms at first!

Stiff even on the loosest setting? I presume you are aware you can change it.

Yes, stiff on the loosest setting (presume your talking about the throttle). I also have the lightest spring in the joy too.

Yeah was just making sure in case you weren't aware it as adjustable, not trying to teach you to suck eggs :) My X55 didn't work properly sadly so I didn't get a replacement one.

Bounty hunting / missions and a bit of trading in the Cosi area, have done the pilgramage to Sol, Lave etc.

Could really do with a good trade route to build up some cash for upgrades though... Need around 1000cr per tonne for each trip. Anyone got any hot tips? I'm willing to travel to wherever.

I'm guessing it's no coincidence that the Thrustmaster HOTAS X has gone out of stock within a week of the release of Elite: Dangerous.

Guys I can't for the life of me figure this out.

I took up a mission where I needed to engage a few ships to find a black box. Easy peasy I thought. However it appears to be stupidly hard for me puny brain to figure out.

I jump to the destination and without turning off the jump drive (?!) I can see contacts quite easily. However whenever I fly towards one I can never judge it right to drop out ontop of them.

Instead I press J and although i'm close before, there are no contacts in sight.

Any ideas?

Are you sure you need to engage some ships? Black boxes can be found in USS's (Unidentified Signal Sources). Just enter SC drop to minimum speed (30km/s) and wait. When you see one, lock on it and droip out of SC (they will be within the minimum distance at that speed). if you see white blips on your scanner, its cargo / possibly a black box :)

I've not done those missions but I assume they work like USS points?
Target them and when you are within 1000km you'll get a blue message saying something like 'safe to disengage warp'. And you're in.

Otherwise I have no idea, sorry

edit@ #CMDRINFO Malam Kallick - I just bimble around a bit.

Did that mission last night, as the previous post suggest find a USS, slow to 0.7 time and press J to drop out of super cruise, you will see a debris field and in amongst it are the black boxes

Be careful though these missions are not legal and if the galactic fuz scan you your gona loose a hefty portion of your payment

On the plus side, expect many to come up for sale as people get bored or don't get on with the game :)

Just set this up on projector + receiver/home theatre + sofa... I thought I had the volume at a respectable level until that boost bass :o, have had to turn bass down! Totally not used to the setup or cobra yet really though so docking is all kinds of joy.
