Got a new cooler to fit so will need to reapply the paste

Not done this before so what do i need to get?

Thanks!

Also the new cooler has a back plate to fit on the rear of the motherboard but my case does have a cut out for that

Does that mean i can leave it in the case of would you still recommend taking it all out?

If you have a cut out, then attach the backplate without removing the motherboard providing it's not too fiddly. Sometimes it's easier to remove the motherboard though.

Isopropyl/Isopropanol alcohol is also suitable, and can be used for many other cleaning tasks and can work out cheaper than a dedicated TIM cleaner.

At a pinch Nail varnish remover can also be used, although some are scented or have additives.

Chemist will usually have them.

I use cotton bud type sticks (made for PCB's), put a drop on the head and clean and repeat much easier than cloth as you can see where you are cleaning and take extra care around surface mount items.

I usually usual use one of the dedicated cleaners (Akasa TIM-clean, ArctiClean), the Isopropyl/Isopropanol will be cheaper but given that the bottle of TIM-clean I bought has lasted years I wouldn't bother about the price difference and the citrus smell is a bonus.
