Regretting not playing more during Gamma. I held off playing thinking there would be a reset so I'm further behind than I could have been. I've now got myself into a Type-6 and on the grind to get a Type-7. I have kept both my Freagle and Cobra MKIII, so I can go do a bit of combat when I get bored of trading. I'm trading in the old worlds for a bit of nostalgia :)

I've been using keyboard and mouse while I try to decide if I like the game enough to invest in a stick of some kind, but I guess I should try my 360 controller as sounds like that will be a marked improvement.

Silly question but is there a specific setting for it, I can see basic controller and advanced controller but not sure what I should pick.

Think I went for "Controller without yaw" (might have been "with"), but I then reassigned most stuff anyway, so it shows as "Custom" now.
 
I've taken to a life of crime as a smuggler! The mission rewards for smuggling slaves are quite nice. At the moment I've got 3 missions lined up for smuggling 2 'ton' of slaves and they all have rewards of around 40k. The price for slaves is around 10k per ton so i'm basically doubling my money.
 
Well it's not often that a peripheral makes a game much better for me but the Saitek X52 is proper sweet to use for this game. Such a shame it is Chrimbo and I have to put it down for a few hours to talk to people :D Only joking but I can see me playing this for a long time to come.

Anyone using that voice activated software? Might have to have a play with that as well.

'Voice Attack' adds massively to ED. Just saying "Landing Gear" and hearing it clunk down is superb - but I've got tons of other commands on there. Get it - it's worth the (very low) price.

Intreated in the voice activated software is it easy to set up or do you have to mod the game

Also interested in the roccat power grid ( downloaded the app on iPhone) does this work well?

Should I run both or is it pointless .. Sorry for loads of questions
 
Depends Andy if you want to use teamspeak then voice attack can be annoying (or is it teamspeak? lol) and to be fair Power grid can be customised to include almost everything you'll need.

It's nice to press something for landing gear etc, at least I think so ( I use metal toggle switches on a box I made lol)

Atm I'm not in any groups in elite ... Not sure how to join any tbh so tend to just potter around still not found a good trade route and no team speak yet but yeah can see the point of the voice activate being an issue

I use a toggle on the x52 pro for landing gear and sc so hear you on it being nice pressing buttons

Looking for most immersion as possible even invested in track ir :) .. I really thought they would have a group chat channel in game

Come pop onto our TS, most of us usually doing our own thing but it certainly adds to game having a chat while playing. That goes to anyone playing we don't bite much:eek:
