Hmmm... I feel a measure of over confidence is setting in, I've started submitting to interdictions now... it's all going to end in tears soon enough I expect.

Ahhh this game is so much fun! Just bought a Viper yesterday, can't wait to start bounty hunting again once I've got some better equipment on it.

Just need to buy a hotas now, I'm too ham fisted to use anything that isn't gimballed with my DS4.

I just submitted to one while hauling a belly load of Palladium.... (92 tonnes!)

Thankfully, it was only a sidey. :)

Then get three 27" like mine:D

Centre is 1440p which I use for every other game sides are just cheap and nasty for elite.

Already thinking about this, one main 1440P screen. Do you not need the other two screens to match the res though? Well I assume not, you just need to run the middle monitor at 1080p also?

Funny. I've been thinking the same this morning. Get a couple of cheap 27" 1080p monitors and run Elite at 5760 x 1080, then for other games just use the centre monitor at 1440p.

Running at that res, does that mean you can have the 2 side panels on screen at all times? I assume you can't have them open all the time. There's just not information on screen for me. I need tags on things in the HUD. Just a name and distance would be good :(

On AMD you can set Eyefinity to multires having centre at 1440p and sides at 1080p, downside is that things wont line up correctly

Amd do a great way at doing this if you can work out what size would suit side monitors the software will crop and you would get perfect allignment

I run mine all @ 1080p and just flick to 1440p for photo editing/ other games

Side panels to my knowledge don't stay oprn but having said that I use tracker so a quick look at side monitors and panels pop up automatically

Is there anything which shows what buttons on the x55 hotas are by default? Like what all the hat switches do etc?

Elite has a long learning curve with regards to setup you really have to work out which items to have on setup and location. Been playing this since May and only now really settled on setup.

I use sw buttons on front for balancing side sw buttons for misc rear buttons for boost/supercruise side hat for thrusters.

Joystick is for firing weapons/countermeasures and cycling targets

Thank you both for your replies :)

I was just thinking can I justify buying myself a x-55 rhino, for Elite, DCS and FSX hmmm decisions :)
Yes, yes you can. Think of it this way the x55 you get 4 different springs and can run it without the spring... perfect for every occasion ;)

There is a program/site someone has made that creates a diagram of what you have binded your keys as by reading your settings file.

Think it's this one http://www.mcdee.net/elite/

Just click x55 reference tools then select the file it asks for on your system

Do the system backdrops look a bit dodgy for anyone else?

I'm playing with the details maxed out and when in system the nebular cloud like features look a bit low res.
