Aha thanks!

I currently have the x52. Just wondering if it's worth going to the x55 or is there not much in it?

Personal taste I expect, Braben says he prefers the X52Pro which is what I have and appears to be absolutely fine for the job, not played with the X55 though so really can't make any sort of comparison.

Mostly Harmless, Penniless and Mostly Aimless now lol, simply loving the game :D

If you think you're getting a sense of scale from TrackIR just wait until you play using a rift, it's a significant jump and I cannot wait for the consumer version to arrive, it's going to be an expensive year, thankfully I already have a HOTAS and pedals :)

I'd love to see how much of a spike the likes of Saitek have had in their sales recently :D

Dano, I'm quite interested to hear how the Rift is in ED and DCS - is it worth getting the current version, or would it be best to wait for the consumer version?

Nate

Been having a fun evening in ED :)

Saved up some pennies, bought a hauler, and it had less cargo space than my upgraded Cobra! So I sold it back and fitted 2x 16 unit cargo holds in the Cobra and carried on trading.

Got a nice little route going now, so back up to around 75k in the bank. Got a few interdiction kills against NPCs, but I'm not sure what to do next. There's so much choice of things that I could do, that I'm not actually sure what I want to do!

Might swap out some of my modules, fit a fuel scoop, and head off into deep space for a while.

Quick question though - when looking at the navigation pane and choosing the target that I want to jump to, is there a way to change what gets displayed? I don't really want to see asteroid belts and planets. I'd rather just have a list of stations or jump points to other systems.

If I want to get into mining, then I'd want to turn those things back on, but at the moment, they only clutter the list when I'm looking for stations to dock at.

And when I'm trading, is there a shortcut for 'buy as many of this item as I can afford or will fit in my cargo hold?', Click holding on the + buy button doesn't take too long, but it is a pain.

And similarly when selling stuff I have to scroll through the list of commodities to find what's in my hold, select it, click sell, and then click the + sell button until it counts up to however many I have. I can image that will get tedious when a large ship could carry a few hundred of an item.

Ship outfitting is a chore though - hopefully that will get a make over in the not too distant future.

All in all, I'm having great fun. It's much improved from the last time I really played it, which was early on in the beta, and now I'm really keen to get my hands on the X55 that Santa is bringing me tomorrow.

Speaking of which, best be off to bed to make sure that I'm asleep for when he arrives! ;)

IMHO wait Nate, its not worth it for dcs yet, stuff is unreadable atm and breaks the immersion, cv1 should be well worth it though

The mouse control must have been broke as hell in Beta.

Just jumped back into the game and went over the tutorials again, managed all of them first time, apart from the undock one, the moment I finished all the preflight checks it catapulted me into the station wall.

I'll still likely avoid PvP as I don't feel it'll be worth the embarrassment, looking forward to some PvE though.

Gotta say I totally disagree, at least from an Elite standpoint. I can read everything fine and immersion is absolutely immense for me!

It's an awesome experience as it is, I can't play Elite any other way. CV1 will be better of course, provided we have GPU hardware available to power it.

All I can say is that I am waiting, when I used the rift for Elite the text was difficult to read, not unreadable but you had to lean in to the panels to see them well enough to read. Not sure how much better it is with the text colours adjusted to suit the pentile display now that the ability is available but I shall test when I next get to borrow the rift. I didn't use it in anything other than elite either but will make a point of trying DCS next time.

The other reason I am waiting is that elite is currently new to me, it may well be that I burn out on it before too long, I don't think I will but you never know and it's pretty much all I want a rift for these days.

After having no luck finding a decent trade route I decided to do some exploring in my Hauler. After mapping a few dozen systems and writing down what was sold where, doing the odd courier mission I stumbled across a nice little earner.

537 per ton profit one way and 940 per ton the other, 2 jumps from each other. I ditched the shields and scanner to max out the cargo to 26.

Had a couple of close calls getting interdicted but I was doing 180k an hour in the hauler. Hopefully the markets doesn't change too much when I next play.

currently have 350k another hours trading and I'll get the Cobra. I would get it now but Gallium is expensive yo!

Have to say you've prob got a point, I havent tried it with ED yet so can't say from that point of view, the immersion is great in any game though its only the resolution that lets it down for me.

Still a great experience though!

Merry Christmas to all the Elitists:)

To all the new guys entering Nav points watch your fire as I felt very unfestive taking out a guy on Christmas Morning;)

Merry Crimbo Max :)

Folks, I backed this game as kickstarter for £150. I thought there was some extra perks we were supposed to receive? Like a decal or something?

How do I get a list of the stuff Im supposed to receive?

The hotas x is a great stick for under £40 and makes playing elite a real joy. I can't imagine paying £100 for an x52 gets you something significantly better.

Just got mine set up and I'm sure it will be great in time, but agh... trying to retrain my brain which has got very used to playing ED using a PS2 pad is killing me already. :(

I've had to resort to going back to the training missions as I don't trust myself with my shiny new in-game Cobra until I get more used to it. :o

I had to go back to combat training to get used to the flight stick. Took me a couple of hours play to retrain myself, but so rewarding once comfortable with it :)

Nice little xmas gift for me from a wanted cobra, dropped a load of gold, now I just have to locate a nice place to sell it without getting fingered lol :)

I find the full speed ahead with boost whilst flying into station very effective for avoiding scans when smuggling stolen / banned items. :D
