US: Marco Polo

Nice show but I find it tricky to understand what khan is saying half the time perhaps its his accent or he speaks low and high, putting volume up to 20 don't help.

Same applies with the white guy, think someone said earlier he does not know english so its all on the fly but at times his accent throws me off.

Think I need subtitles or its just me ?

Just watched the first episode, love the setting and some of the outdoor shots are stunning. Think it'll be a bit of a slow burner amongst the great unwashed but has the potential to end up like a Spartacus for example.

Nice to have something different from the swathe of European/Medieval period stuff out there too.

I've been watching this on Netflix and I'm enjoying it. It takes some major liberties with historical events and the timeline of those events, but I'm happy to ignore those and just watch this show for what it is. It's very well directed, I like the characters and the actors playing them, the fight choreography is outstanding, and it seems like an expensively made show (which it is!). I also absolutely love the intro, it's one of the best of any TV series for a while, though it's very reminiscent of the intro to The Pacific.

Watched about half an hour of it and couldn't "connect" with it just nothing seemed to pull me in. Visually was very good and characters seemed solid but just nothing seemed to get my interest.

Finished this off yesterday and what a quality finale that was.

Although I'd love to know how 100 eyes can be that good, being blind and I loved the look on Jia Sidao's face when 'eyes went into mantis mode :D)

Finished it a few days. Loved it, I do hope they continue on with season 2.

Yeah season 2 is confirmed in the making, think it will appear late 2015 though.

Its lucky also since it had mixed performance/viewers but it was still green lighted.

I really enjoyed the first few episodes but getting through the rest was such a drag. Marco Polo's character was flat, and the dialogue across most of the series was so uninteresting I was on my phone for some of it.

I persisted through the whole series however, if only for Hundred Eyes and the Mantis guy, they were cool.

Normally a fan of this era and race, whole series felt lacking to me. Not a touch on GoT, if I were to draw a comparison anywhere.

Real shame, was very hyped for this prior to release. Glad others found enjoyment.

The financial constrains of green screen costume drama came out very quickly when it got to battles. Instead of large group battles most of the time we were shown game cut scene shortcuts. They spent vast amounts of screen time to show us several one-on-one martial art fight, but when Marco goes to the wall, all we get is weird voice over and freeze frame cut scene? WTF. That's not how one should play The Game of Mongols.

Initial reviews of this was that it wasn’t very good.

If I recall rightly it was something like, "If you have nothing else to do on a Sunday afternoon, then you could watch this if you wanted too"

You guys are saying it's worth a watch?

Yes, though whether you like it is purely down to you.

Like most series, it takes a few episodes to find itself to a degree, but sticking with it is well worth it IMO.
