Without expansion, you can get to Level 31 buying stuff from vendors / RNG Drops. To get to 32, you'll need to run Crota's End raid (a lot of times!).

Level don't make that big a difference apart from Raid or Nightfall. PvP only affects Iron Banner but even then, it's still minimal.

The Expansion only adds new vendor specific items, additional bounties and the strike(s) and Missions. If the rotation happens to be a Expansion mission for the weekly update, then for a week, there's no weekly/Nightfall for non-expansion players. e: Also, you'll need the expansion for the new PvP maps and RoC strike playlist, which is the only list that now gives a Cryptarch engram drops.

All weapons that's available are available for non-expansion players too - apart from Raid Weapons / Armours.

Cool thanks for that, I think I am just going to get the as close to level 30/31 and see how restricted I become. Once that happens I will buy it. Havent played for a while now but wouldnt mind getting back into it.

I havent even done the first raid...do many people still do it. I am on PS4 aswell, I was part of the Clan but got kicked for inactivity

I will login this afternoon i definitely will do the daily heroic on lvl 30 (i am lvl 29) and try to find a group for the nightfall if you havent done it already. I am open for a VOG or CE i have solo'd only the first chest in both raids. I tried to go for the second one for CE but i wiped 25 times so i quit bothering. Too many thralls and i dont see any way i can get past the Ogre and cross the bridge

I got Hard Light drop as a purple from a dead dreg while patrolling the cosmodrome I'm still leveling up the the last word Hand cannon though.

Motes of light where do you spend these now? Once i bought an engram from Xur and it turned into a hunter item (i have only a warlock for now) and since then i noticed that Xur doesn't have those engrams any more?

So where do you guys spend the Motes?

it's supposed to be completely random each week apart from the weapon he has for sale, that will have been pre-determined

Pre-determined from a set list, which is then RNG to what's available.
No bounty weapons or console exclusives.

That's the only thing it's ever going to be spent on till Destiny make it more relevant like re-rolling weapons specs. The only other place to spend it is with the Speaker for class items, which looks meh - I did waste some motes there once when I first started. Never again.

The exotic engrams have 33.3% of a chance to be other class, that's why I play all 3 classes. Also, usually in a week, I have enough for 2 purchases spread over 3 characters.

Whichever suits your game play, if you like the Warlock and want to roll with 2 for coins and RNG chances at Nightfall / Raid, go with it. You can do all 3 if you're as hardcore as some on the Bungie forum.

i would like another warlock and one of the other chars as well but dunno if i have any time. Having me and gf fighting as to whom will play destiny on the ps4 while the other just stares at the screen is not helping either. I was thinking to buy the stupid game on the ps3 and play there while gf is playing on the ps4 but i think i will have to buy the whole thing and the expansion again. Look what i am saying i have a gf who plays destiny and i am complaining

PS: i played the demo on the ps3 and no way the console is so rubbish to be so blurry. I have seen a lot better games older games looking better than that. What have they done there. It looks lower than 720p but it is way too blury

I know the promo applies to digital upgrades and the game is horribly expensive on the ps store. I have the expansion on the ps4 and my char is wearing expansion items. If i get the disk for the ps3 and not the expansion will my char be naked or completely unavailable?

I might as well level up alts through there

My Xbox One DLC items works fine on the 360 without the DLC. Only thing that doesn't work is the missions, getting items or bounties from Eris and that Stunt Sparrow, it shows I need the DLC to use, and revert to the default Grey PoS you get at the start...

That's why there's some moaning when the expansion was released that non-expansion players can just buy their level 31 gear from vendors / Xur. (On Bungie's forum anyway)
