Well, I worked hard today and now have my Cobra Mk III, "Have Blue".

It's the basic model, but with the buy-back of my good quality fuel scoop. Also, I sold all the weapons for now.

Plan for tomorrow is yet more BBS Mission and Exploration work in order to gradually improve upon each fitted part.

I quite fancy a Detailed Surface Scanner too.

When I'm happy with quality kit coupled with long range jumps, I'll be ready to add some guns back and go a-huntin'.

Ok I have got my Cobra now. So on my next run, I got interdicted so i thought, right lets have a go at killing this buffoon. We he jumped away, but I ended up with a bounty.

Why ????

Can someone explain it please.

Game is frustrating, lots of others have already mentioned the bad points!

For me, i took to trading rares, so i grabbed a 20 cargo ship, loaded it up and set sail with the goal of getting 140+ ly away (to get the most money for the rares :) )
I had to fly through about 30+ star systems to do this, an absolute grind.. I'm now stuck 170ly away from my start location and most of the systems are empty with stars :(
(The rares did yield a good return 50k worth of goods sold for around 400k!)

I cant be assed flying all the way back, so im tempted to trade my cargo ship in for a sidewinder and self destruct, when given the option ill start at the beginning in a sidewinder!

Any easier way?? It will take me about 3 hours to complete that route again!

Just log out and swap when needed for now, a queue is definitely needed though. I agree about the instant wanted status though, it really needs to be a fine first, only turning into a bounty if you fail to pay before 24 hours are up or if you make the same offense two or three times.

It's what I'll have to do but I really don't like the idea of switching about, ruins the immersion a lot changing and having to log in and out. It also feels like cheating.

You can interdict players without receiving a bounty I believe, attacking a clean player will give you a wanted status unless you are in a system that isn't governed.

It's likely someone thought you were wanted and thought they would kill you, interdicted you, then discovered you were clean and wanted none of it and left. You then attacked said "clean" player and gained a bounty.

Ok I should have said this was an NPC, and was shooting at me. I have now bought a cheap warrant scanner.

If the target doesn't have a bounty in the system you are in attacking them is a crime. They can have a 1 billion credit bounty in the next system over and the authorities couldn't care less.

You can only legally attack clean targets in Anarchy systems.

Did they hit you? It's best to let them hit you first if you for some reason can't target them and do a basic scan.

gawd,

bad day for me, killed another couple of anacondas, then the 3rd one caught me twice with the plasma cannon, knocked my shields out right whilst I was boosting, then the second got me down to 40% hull... repairs in the region of 500k again... now not enough for insurance, so another hour or two hauling for me tomorrow,

Whilst I enjoy flying around in a bigger ship, I found killing anacondas much easier in a Viper, the clipper puts out a hell of a lot of firepower, (large beam lasers/cannons etc) but because I'm such a bigger target I take a lot more flak, I think if I save up for a 7B or 7A shield.... (21M or something  )

the two main weps i'm using atm;

Got 45k in credits from bounties. :)

When I use the warrant scanner and they are wanted in the current system any way does it say anything else. And if they are clean and clean after the scan completes. Is there any other place Im meant to look. noob at killing. lol

Im also trying to get my head round the components logic would say D is better than E. But its not always the case. lol

The kill warrant scanner will find bounties regardless of whether they're wanted or not, select a target and scan it with the kill-scanner, when it's complete go to the contacts tab on your left panel, select the target you just scanned and look at where it says "record" for most bounties the actual player itself will be marked as clean, but when you look in that section - that's where you'll see the juicy bounties.

E is worst, when you buy a new ship all modules will be E, the higher the number the "bigger" it is, so an "A7" shield generator will cost me about 51 million and is awesome, whereas an "E7" shield gen costs about 100k, weight 4 times more and takes ages to recharge..

Got myself a mining cannon and a refinery...now what? even the youtube vids i've watched confused me:(

You mean a mining laser :p

1.> Go to an asteroid, fire the mining laser at it until a fragment breaks off
2.> select the fragment and see if it's any good, (might be something awesome like gold, or might be a load of rubbish like bauxite) check the percentage of metals, as well as the type.
3.> If it's worth something, keep firing the laser at the asteroid, you should get around 10 fragments for each asteroid,
4.> you should be surrounded by lots of white blobs on your scanner - these are fragments, open your cargo scoop, select a fragment and fly towards it until you collect it
5.> The refinery will now say "resource unallocated" go to your refinery panel on the right, you should have two types of metal in the bins - select each one to allocate, then continue collecting the fragments.

You need to collect a certain percentage of material to make a single unit of cargo (1 ton) once you've collected 1 ton, your refinery will say resources unallocated again - repeat the above process.

D is always the lightest variant of an item, so it may not be the best, but if you want to have stuff fitted and maintain your jump range, fit D units. You also need to consider the class of the equipment as well. Look at the screenshots Screeeech has posted.

His first two weapons are C3 rated, his next two weapons are D2 rated. The first two slots are class 3 slots (as indicated by the orange 3 on the second line of each item), so you ideally want to fit class 3 items. The next two slots are class 2, so you really want to fit class 2 items. You can fit lower classes (class 1 is the lowest) if you need for financial/mass/power reasons, but a C3 item will be better than a C2, and probably better than than a B2 or A2.

Ofcourse not all equipment is available in all variations though.

Took a break today from hauling rares about, and bought myself a Viper for some pew-pew. Upgraded most of the parts and then went and hung out at a Nav Point. Killed a few wanted NPCs (in Solo) and picked up some creds in bounties. Still need a bit more combat practice before mixing with some of the big boys in Open Play.

Jumped back into my Cobra and ferried some more rares around to make back the money I spent on the Viper and once I had a full hold, I got interdicted by a Federal Drop Ship NPC. I got away with 1% hull left! That was a close one. I could easily have got the ship back, as insurance was only about 80k, but all that lost cargo and lost profit would have caused me a few tears!

get loads of cargo space, look on navigation map then the system map of the system your in what you want is in the description on the left side when you click on an asteroid/planet belt is "pristine reserves" and "metal" (minerals are crap )

also I found the best stuff comes from the small belt clusters, be aware though there's a few pirates around, get ready to do a runner after remembering to put your cargo scoop away if you get a scan that says things like "just scanning you don't worry it won't hurt" I means there going to blow you up and nick all your hard earned loot, there's a few security craft around as well but its best to frame shift out then pick another cluster and carry on

btw anyone know how to get your fighter and mining ships into the same system gunna be a pita having to fly 30 systems away just to swap into my fighter ?

Assuming you have two Ships- A and B in separate systems. The only way at the moment is to fly Ship A to the system you want to park Ship B, buy a cheap Ship C (Sidewinder), fly to the location of Ship B, sell Ship C and Ship B back to Ship A.... if that makes sense....

Is there some secret to docking that I don't know about?

I get docking permission, proceed to the landing pad, lower my landing gear, align myself so I'm centred in the blue circle then slowly thrust down and... bump off the bottom of the landing pad. Repeatedly. For 8 or 9 minutes until my docking permission runs out, I get fined then lose my temper and get killed because I fire my weapons.
