What did you do to your bike today?

1jac, it seems much better than the Abba stands (used to use them), it can get both wheels off ground in under 5 seconds.

Got into my first accident today.
Turning on a round-about just outside of work and went across the only black ice on the entire road, straight onto my face and smashed my viser and the front cowling of my bike that covers the headlight.
Cant find anywhere which does replacements either so yeh....

Ouch :(. Anyone else involved? Count yourself lucky if not.

Black ice / frozen mud on road has been terrible this year round where I live. Felt the front end go a few times!

Could you replace it yourself from parts on ebay?

No one else involved, a friend I know was right behind me and rushed straight out to help. Pulled a muscle just below my elbow so my arm has no strength what so ever forawhile but apart from that my gear took the damage (and my bike...:()
And yes I could replace it, but the point is trying to find it
Basically the black bit of this:
entire top part is gone

Don't look for a replacement visor mate, scrap the whole helmet sounds like you face planted with some decent force the helmet will be scrap even if the main shell looks fine.

Any way my job for today is to sort out my totally wonky steering on my ybr after dropping it twice in 6 days, first one was total rider error snatched the front brake bye bye, second was a patch of black ice was already taking it slow but there was nothing I could do to save it and it's totally knocked my bars off kilter.

Luckily I've got plenty of natural padding and years of learned reactions from coming off mountain bikes means my head always seems to stay up so it's just my hip and shoulder that are suffering right now but my "cheap" gear has stood up bloody well and saved any blood from being spilled.

The worst bit was the 3.5hour wait in minus 3 waiting for Green Flag to remove their finger from their anus and pick me up, luckily I had an extra hoodie in my bag and it wasn't raining or else they'd have been sticking me on the back of the flatbed when they finally turned up as well as the bike.

Sigh.
Just got home from hospital, been involved in a crash.
Going down the main road and some guy pulls out of a junction without looking. Slammed right into the side of him and thudded onto the ground and slid alittle ways. Couldn't brake in time and not enough room to get out the way,
My gear took the brunt of the damage, broke my arm and some bruising.
Bike is a total write off, entire front is demolished and it doesn't even start,

The driver has accepted full responsibility, had a nice woman as a witness who stopped and rushed over very nice lady (a mother with a son same age as me) , gave her a hug and thanked her for stopping. Police quickly came, exchanged details and ambulance came to take me to casualty as in abit pain.

Need to go back to hosital tomorrow to get a full cast put on.

Cant do my job now and i need both my arms,
So yeh typed this in like 15min as my right arm is dead which is my main arm, so i cant do much.

:(

looks like i'm going to be watching allot of anime for the next few weeks.....

Ohh that's terrible :(

Can only wish you a speedy recovery, and hope you get back in the saddle soon

Nice to see some good samaritans around who stopped to help you

Bad luck, get well soon :( good that you got a witness, you never know if the car driver will change their view afterwards, at the scene it's "sorry mate, my fault" but after its "he was doing 60mph on the back wheel officer, overtaking a school bus, there was nothing I could do, honest guv"

MatsyLR: Well... on the bright side you don't need to look for a front cowling any more and your bike is replaceable :)

Did you notify your insurance company of the little off before the crash?

I have been involved in two SMIDSY's this year, two bikes written off, both 100% other party's fault. Nothing broken on me luckily, aside from my confidence. Both happened with cars cutting me up, first one hit me with a trailer they were towing at about 30mph and I was knocked out for about 20 seconds, had deep tissue damage to back, hips, and left knee primarily. 3 months later, second driver was indicating right and then suddenly slowed and turned left slamming me into metal railings at 30mph, left knee now ****** even worse and it had only just healed to a good level. 3 months later I can walk but not jog or run, going up or down stairs is really uncomfortable.

But hey... both of us are still alive to see 2015 ;)

Started the process of retrofitting projectors and HID bulbs to my SV650S.

Stripping the front down and separating the reflector unit from the housing went pretty well. What's been tricky so far is that the H4s aren't mounted vertically on this bike so the H4 adapter ring needed to be modified, and the wiring for the solenoid and angel eyes was slightly tricky to get from in front of the reflector to behind it.

It might :D. I'm interested in being seen in the daytime, and white CCFLs are good at that. If they're awful I can always disconnect them or run them off a separate switch. Current plan is to run them off the sidelights so they'll always be on when the ignition is set to on.

Lol. They've actually got red demon eyes in the projectors just ready to go, though I've stopped short of hooking those up (so far).

Muppets sent me 6000k bulbs instead of the 4300k I ordered, so it's no doubt a long fight with a Chinese eBayer to get the 4300s.
