Thought I would relive the 1980s original so muted the game sounds and put on some Jean-Michel Jarre (Oxygene). Loving it.

French electronic music and Elite do seem to suit each other. I prefer Equinoxe, but I can feel your pain re. the distracting death.

Hang on a cotton picking minute.

Just died again - leaving the station, everybody green, suddenly everybody goes red and I get shot to hell.

No I did not take over 5 minutes to leave, I was just starting to charge up my frameshift drive - I have literally no idea why I was killed....

Check your Status? You may have outstanding bounties possibly? You look like Justin Bieber?

I had a bit of an aww crap moment tonight.

Been collecting Bounties in an Anarchy system and had racked up about 70-80k when I was scanning a target who was already in an ongoing fight, when his duelling partner decided to slam right into me and cause me to blow up.

Cobra Mk3 and all the bounties gone.... luckily it was only 35k to replace :D

Arrr - I think it might ave been having to wait for an AI orca and python to faff about - how long do you get in the "jaws" of the starport ?

Seems i'm not the only one to listen to Jarre with ED :) Zoolook killed my first Lakon type 6.
Let me guess - got distracted lunging for the next track button when 'Diva*' came on? Totally worth it. :D

When I hear 'Waiting For Cousteau', infinite blue space is the first thing I picture in my mind, due to countless hours playing Frontier. 45 mins of ambience on infinite repeat in a vast, sparse system. Bliss :)

Was a bit annoyed at this issue earlier:

Luckily I was able to find fuel at a closer system do I didn't have to self destruct but can't see why I was being denied the ability to jump to my final destination :/

Borrowed my sons rift for a try earlier. Its amazing, the immersion is epic. It really is like being in the ship. Only issue is the hopefully the retail rift with have a higher res. But so far the best rift enabled game i`ve tryed.

I had the same problem a few minutes ago.

Try changing your destination to another system then changing back to your original destination, that worked for me.

Can anyone recommend a good market website?
I'm using Thrudds at the moment, but it is really glitchy.

Cheers

At the moment they all suffer from the fact all market information is manually entered in (or OCR'd in manually). So it can be missing, out of date, or just plain wrong.

Personally I've simply found a spread sheet and flying around a few systems noting the most expensive commodities prices and supply'/demand status the most effective. Generally can get 700-1000K profit per ton each way on a too-and-fro-trade runs.

Gah, was bounty hunting in a resource extraction site last night and got a federation-wide bounty after I blew up a wanted ship and one bullet from my multi-cannon passed through the wreckage and hit a security ship about 1km behind the wreck. Got annoyed at that point so legged it and saved.

Do I have to clear a federation bounty at a federation station or can I go to any station to do it?

Yes... Daft isn't it!

You can go to any station I believe...

I'm at the point where I'm signing up for the Empire and those fed scum can eat it as far as I'm concerned. Ever noticed how often friendly/neutral AI will shoot you(also by mistake) while you're hot on the tail of an enemy?
No bounty for them of course, oh no..! :p

Just gonna trade a bit more then go fed hunting, gonna get me a nice big bounty on my head. Too long have they gone unpunished for abusing their power!
That's as far as I can go in terms of making up my own story, killing the fed police because they're buggy, annoying, expletives.

FOR THE EMPIRE!

Edit: You know what, doing that will probably be buggy as hell and every station will want to kill me, even the empire who I'm going to be friendly with and fighting for.

Thrudds and Slopeys BPC are pretty much the best 2 there are atm. I think theres a new one poking around called EliteOCR which uses screenies to update but think its in early days. There is also a good personal log program called Cmdrs Log which you enter stuff manually but after a few systems it does the same thing, you just have to keep it updated yourself when you visit systems.

Woo! Finally got some credits tonight!

Is there an easy way to find stations in an unexplored system? I can find planets relatively easy but not having much luck with stations.

Stations/outposts are always already discovered when you enter an unexplored system
