Seems i'm not the only one to listen to Jarre with ED :) Zoolook killed my first Lakon type 6.

Zoolook - ahhh not listened to it for ages. After Oxygene and Equinoxe I think he lost his mojo a bit. Redevous is good as well, but may revisit Zoolook...

Though if you want to look at 70's electronic music as a background for as space/flight sim check this out:

It would be cool to try and recreate it in ED :D

Apologies for the thread drift :)

omg I feel dead,

Found a really good trading route, 3 system loop with good stuff between each one, stripped my clipper out to shields only with an A5 FSD and 240 tons capacity, making 900k for each lap

timed a single lap at 20 mins, been hammering it since lunchtime, managed to rack up a profit of about 17 million...

need a break... can almost afford a python..

Nice! 17 million in an afternoon is impressive.

I've been doing similar to though I can't grind for more than an hour at a time before I have to leave it a while. I was making 3+Million/hr but the route is starting to become less profitable. Not far off a Python now...Just need to make up the 10 million (!) over the base price to cover an upgraded FSD, insurance and a full load of cargo.

lmao and I was chuffed to bits from making around 150K in 5 hours work from collecting black boxes/Rebel transmissions :D

Enjoying it though, so I don't mind.

That's how we all start. I remember feeling elated after sneaking into a station with a couple of tons of Platinum I found at a USS and making about 25k. Now I'm annoyed if I get less than 200k for a single trade run. :p

It's easier to make lots of credits as you progress to bigger ships.

Are you going to share the info on this route to help a noob like me? (Only had the game 2 days)

I played the original Elite on C64 for what seamed like months (years?) and got all the way up to Deadly.....

Is it my monitor or does this look orange rather than red?

Took a mission to take out some NPC, 182k on completion, took me an absolute age to find it.

Then when I did find it,he was in a bloody anaconda! Quite a trickyfight against my freeagle I can tell you. Had to wait till 3 fed ships came in, took around 20minutes but was good fun. Only problem I had, 1stray laser hit them and gave me a bounty, so had to leg it moment I did mission .

Paid for my Viper now though yay.

Really wish they'd bring in a warning system instead of instant bounty, and I hate the Borg shaped stations , can never find the entrance!

Found myself a profitable little niche as a slave trader!

If you are also a person of low moral fibre and want to make stacks of credits out of others misery then slave trading is the career for you! V1581 Cygni is just a few short hops from the Sol system and always has plenty of slaves, just be sure to take a well armed ship as it's a magnet for pirates and other unsavoury types!

I hate the Borg shaped stations , can never find the entrance!

I used to have that problem as well until I realised that the graphic of the station inside the cockpit has arrows on the sides pointing towards the entrance.

My way of grinding is to put awesome B movies on my other monitor whilst I grind, yesterdays queue looked something like this;

Bad Taste 1987
The thing 1982
The thing 2011 (why ;_; )
Creepshow
Creepshow 2

and some other stuff... before I knew it, I was done..

Making the most of my christmas/new year break :D

Sure!

Bear in mind i'm in a ship with 240 tons of capacity, but nevertheless, the route is as follows;

Amahu - Kondratyev orbital (buy palladium)

Cantjarisni - Cochrane Enterprise (sell palladium, purchase auto-fabricators)

Kappa Ophiuchi - Merchistan gateway (sell auto-fab, purchase marine equipment)

Amahu - Alexandria gateway (sell marine equip, purchase animal meat)

Loop back to Kondratyev orbital (sell the animal meat, buy palladium and begin again..)

I was hammering it all day yesterday, with 240 capacity it'd probably make me around 2.5 Mil an hour now, if you do it in a stripped out hauler or type-6 you should still make decent money

(the one good thing about the above route, is that all the systems are close together, and none of the stations are more than 1000ls from the nav beacon, so you're making money all the time - no horrid 60+ LY jumps, or spending 15 mins in supercruise)

When you request docking permission the station shows at the lower left of the screen with arrows on the graphic pointing towards to entrance, also, the entrance generally faces towards to planet the station is orbiting, so, if you change you're approach angle and drop out of warp from that general direction it is usually more or less dead ahead. Hope that helps.

First time I have got a game at full price since disappointment with X rebirth. Currently downloading hope don't take to long no idea how big the game is

Is that your starting system or did you fly into it?

If you flew into it then it means your basic Cobra has the range to get into the system.

Have you added any equipment or carrying any cargo? That adds to the weight of the ship which reduces the range you can jump.

for me its been, up to now, the entire box set of Justice League and now up to season two of The Amazing Spiderman :D

Just outfitted my Cobra with a class 2 beam, class 2 multi and two class 1 multi's, a bounty hunting I will go, well tonight anyway.

How did you guys start this game? I have played it on and off for a few days now and restarted a few times due to losing my way and being a noob.. (veteran Frontier player here). I start at Threvithik Dock (sp) and have no idea what buy and where to sell for some profit. I originally did a cargo run inbetween two staions in that system first time around but not really making any Credits on it.

How did you guys make a start and where did you start from or go to first?

Target the station and the holographic will show you where the entry port is located via arrows pointing to the side it's located on, ref the blue arrows.

The station rotates anticlockwise around the entry port (green arrow), so just by looking at the way the station is rotating narrows the possible entry port locations down to two sides (yellow and green arrows), if you then take it a step further and note the direction it is rotating you can ascertain exactly where the entry port is.

In the image above the station appears to be rotating down from my point of view (red arrows) thus the entry port must be on the right as it appears to me. If it was rotating the other direction it would be on the left where the yellow arrow is.

Simples :)

EDIT: If the pad indicators disappear when you are inside don't panic, your radar will point to your pad!

The rear 'square' of the station also has a flashing red lights, one on each corner, while the front has white ones. So if your seeing four red lights you are looking directly at the back of the station.
