Secondary concern when actually playing with others is what you can do as a group. IIRC bounties etc are for the last hitter, and you can't swap credits or mined minerals / trades.

so it appears there is a bug and players have been racking up millons of credits with ease , many are calling for a rollback.

pfft

A similar amount of people have lost millions (I lost about 3M a few nights ago) if they perform any sort of rollback, and people who have legitimately made a fortune (like me) lose it and don't get it back... I imagine it'll cause quite a few problems.....

There's a thread in the official forums. The guy is apologising for the server glitches and goes on to mention that there is (was) an exploit that some people were taking advantage of in order to effectively print money.

Frontier will look into it, and may take action against individual players (but I think it will be rollback type action rather than bannings).

Just caught the official newsletter;

Looks like they're just rolling back people who have been taking the ****.. presumably they can search the commander database and look at people who have stupid amount of money.

From what I can remember, when the glitch occured on new years day - some people were able to keep selling their cargo (their hold was constantly full) as some people ended up with several billion after a few minutes.

Will the people who abused the exploit/glitch get banned do you think as some mmo company's do iirc. Personally I've not played since about just before release due to RL. Was thinking of picking it up again soon but I dunno how stable it is ATM as don't fancy playing a game that had a big glitch like the one talked about coming up again.

Other than that one issue it's been absolutely stable for me, I also don't care a jot about other players gaining from it. If they want to play that way they can go right ahead and do so, it doesn't affect me in the least, I'm in it for the experience not to cheat my way to having nothing left to achieve and boredom.

It's pretty stable for me - aside from the server issues on new years day I haven't had any problems..

I'm not sure the exploiters will get banned, most likely they'll get rolled back on a one to one basis - which seems fair tbh..

What do they mean "with ease"? I can do 3m creds in one evening of bounty hunting. Is that a bug and are they going to make it harder?

It was specific to a server glitch on new years night - people were taking cargo to a station and selling it, but cargo wasn't disappearing from their cargo hold - so they could keep selling and selling and selling, either by flying out and flying in again OR just repeatedly opening the trading menu (one or the other)

Wow - that's a good one!

I was able to just repeatedly sell my cargo over and over. Unfortunately for me it was only worth 2k :-(

Have spent the Christmas break playing ED as much as I can.

At this stage I'm trying to give it a chance. Don't get me wrong, it's a superb game, but as a lot of people have been saying, it's severely lacking content.

Missions seems ... hollow. Even ones in eve online have flavour text and a vague story (that you can ignore), in ED although there's flavour text, it's procedurally generated and meaningless.

Anyway, this wasn't supposed to be a rant, just got fed up with hauling stuff back and forth, but I did just buy a Viper, so intend to do some bounty hunting tonight ....

How much did you make from the glitch in total? will be interesting to see if they roll your save back,

I ended up losing 3 million when the cargo I was hauling wasn't actually adding to my balance, took me about half an hour to notice.... :o

I quite like war zones with missions. Just had 2 missions, 1 for 9 and the other for 5 ships, and they don't stack. Killed 9, made 27k for that then another 23k for one mission and then 18k for the other. Cost me around 3.2k in fuel and ammo. Not bad for 20 mins work along with the insane fun of a high intensity war zone. Going to fly around doing USS's for 20 mins to see how much isk I can make there.
