What do you pay for your broadband?

That's the deal I'm currently on. No landline or TV from Virgin, just broadband.

Look at post #95, you need to renegotiate.
I first got my BB down from 150 to 100 for a cheaper price and then Virgin said if I had the TV it would be cheaper  so I obviously went for it. They then offered a cheaper landline if I paid 12 months in advance.

Here's my latest bill and I'm a bit annoyed somebody is using the landline when we all have unlimited calls - http://www.disturbinthepeace.co.uk/pics3/vmbill.jpg

What is the Payg Dial up option?

Bit of a shame now, I took advantage of the free doubling speeds (ofc) but this seemed to only double download so I'm stuck with 100 download and 5 upload haha - don't really use upload that much anyway so it's fast enough for my uses! (Virgin media)

Think about £35 - £40?

In Switz I was getting 150/10 for £50/month

Now in France getting a woeful 5/1 for £28/month :(

There are cheaper providers... but these guys offer fastpath and local adsl 2+ unbundling... so choice was either 4/0.3 with 60-80ms ping for £10-12/month or 5/1 with 40ms ping for £28.

I was on 150/15 Virgin back in the UK... and had been with them since 60/5 was their top product.

Before that it was 20/2 & before that I was in uni halls with 100/100

It's been 8 years since I've had internet this slowwwwwwwwwww... it's painful! ;)

But... I live in a nice quiet village, at the end of a dead-end road, on the edge of a small forest with a quietness I have never had before... so tradeoff worth it... just painful in winter when i'm spending more time indoors :o

Recently changed from Plusnet's el cheap option (8mbs) to their unlimited fibre for about £32pcm inc line rental. Service seems decent so far, I get about 68mbs down. We've had a few hiccups streaming iPlayer/Amazon in the evenings though, I'm hoping it's not contention!

I dont know.

The total bill is £87 a month which I think I am going to look at soon as I barely watch any tv these days.

Personal question, I know, but I'm not sure if I'm paying too much for mine (?)

I have a separate line upstairs in my room (living with parents), they have Sky broadband, telephone, tv package, whatever downstairs.

I'm on BT, I've never plugged in a phone, just purely use it for the internet.

My latest bill came to £32.30 and I'm getting these speeds:

Does this seem a bit too much for what I'm getting?

Cheers :)

Can't help but notice that speed test is 350 miles away.
Have you tried using speed test to somewhere more local?

I've just got off the phone to Virgin Media. They've put me on a new 12 month contract but the deal stays on the account for 18 months. My bill has decreased from £31.49 to £24.49 and they upgraded me from 30mb to 50mb.

they did free 50mbit upgrades recently anyway/

I think I pay like £35 for 30mbit, just applied the free 50mbit upgrade to my account the other day.

Can't be bothered to negotiate price over 10 a month

Renegotiated my deal with Virgin last month:

Broadband Size: L (Up to 50Mb)
Bundle charges total £15.50
Phone line rental total £15.99

Loyalty Discount £9 per month for 18 months
Promotional offer(S) total £9.00CR

New monthly package total £22.49

Can't complain :p

Plus £18 for Sky Family pack (with a £15 discount).

I pay £61 a month for TiVo plus second box,, broadband and phone, get pretty good speeds..

and thats over WiFi so cant grumble.

The 100mb Virgin is only £33.50 so it does look like you are getting ripped off!

I'm paying for landline as well. Also got a £1 free 0845 numbers. I had first 6 months half price I think.

I've only got 4 months left from my 18 month contract. Don't want to renegotiate into another long **** contract.

But I do want a better deal. But still want to stay on my existing length of contract, I.e. I want to get to a rolling contract asap as I only have 4 months left.

Is this fessable does anyone think, phoning them up, getting more and not adding a longer contract time?

12 months is normally what you get signed up to if you want reduced cost.

Sky pro supposedly £20.50 Pm + line rental looking at changing not been happy since sky killed BE There :( same line used to get 14mbps down and 1.2mbps up with 15 ping

Well I just talked to sky to ask for my mac code after explaining why I wasn't happy I was put through to tech support who happened to be a ex Be there employee and by magic my results are now this

And my payments are getting reduced to £12.50pm

What's a popular isp these days? I'm with TalkTalk and their current deal looks very tempting, but what with all the other competition I don't know which way to turn.
