Tolerate the intolerable,I see... no wonder you're trying to have an argument,my 'apologist' post must have stung quite a bit...
oh well,if the shoe fits.![]()
I stay out of religious/islam threads usually but this is terrible, really awful. When religion = power then people will try to protect that power and fight against anyone who threatens it. The catholic church were no better hundreds of years ago. However whilst Europe finally moved away from this that hasn't happened in the Islamic world. They obviously see the western way of freedom of speech, freedom of press and freely elected governments as a threat to their power so are inevitably going to fight against it.

There will be a tipping point. Religions are bad at the core and it needs to be addressed. Why should we accept values that are so out of date with society today. The values should be rightfully condemned publicly an constantly. What we think of certain beliefs and values should not be hidden away just because its religion.

They will succeed in eliminating free speech.
Dons should ban the next person to say "Religion of Peace", it does nothing for the conversation.
Two unhinged individuals are representative of an entire religion now?
Don't want to descend into an argument - sorry if it came over that way. I was genuinely looking for a answer from you as to how we would put in place what you proposed. Your post did not sting - I am genuinely curious for a solution to this problem to which I see none.
As mentioned these people are inciting hatred of Islam amongst the west. We have to be the better people here and deal with the people who perpetrate these crimes, not a collective of people who are innocent. I thought this much would be obvious. Your initial short post seemed to suggest otherwise.
ffs it is a religion of peace it's these fanatics that give it a bad name! How many times do we have to say that!!??
No different to extremist christianity.
Islam has a lot of fantatics. From Thailand to Nigeria, France and the US, all we see is Islam butchering innocent people.
Its not a religion of peace, its a religion of violence.
I'm out, this thread is like a game of spot the intolerant racist.

well, maybe that's where we differ... Islam is more akin to a political ideology than just a religion. It permeates all areas of Life and there seems to be no clear-cut distinction between state and religion, which makes sense if my interpretation of what Islam is,is correct.
It's time to stand up for our values and our belief and defend them against these intolerable attacks, which are being justified by the word of Mohammed. Another problem I see is the word of Mohammed is taken at face-value and not interpreted as it should be, imo.
No doubt the many religious schools in the third world play a part where the quran is taught in arabic and never translated. Blind faith and obedience.
many problems inherent that will be tough to overcome without major reform, and ultimately the realisation that the quran is not the word of god and must be interpreted AND that state and religion must be apart.
so,that's a big task right there.
Same when white people in Yorkshire were raping little girls there was no mass media about it, but everyone knows about the Rochdale Grooming case.
