Fibre 38Mbps, 76Mbps

I'd consider the various representations to all be equally valid as long as people use b and B correctly.

Network rates should always be presented as bits.

When it comes to translating network speeds into windows transfer speeds, divide by 8.

So a 100Mbit connection = 12.5MB/s. That that's roughly 3x mp3 songs per second. A full 700MB CD in 56 seconds.

now learning the difference bledd, it makes you realise how slow non fibre broadband is!!! I would say 38mps is JUST enough for the most part. ONLY JUST

I was on 30mbps up until a couple of months ago when VM bumped me up to 50mbps for nothing and that was absolutely fine, maybe it's because I started with computers in the days of 56k so nothing will ever be that bad :D

It's not though. If you actually analyse bandwidth usage, you need minimal bandwidth to pull down a web page, HD streaming can be done on a 5Mbps connection.

If you have a 100Mb connection, it doesn't always run at 100Mb. I think I could easily cope on a 10/10 rather than my 152/12

Meh, I'd be happy on a 1Mbit connection if it was stable. Decent ping is more important to me.
